After almost 2wks and 2760.9mi (13.3mpg total including trail time), I find myself back in AR after an incredible trip to Moab and CO. I set off with a buddy of mine to Moab where I tested the new build on Metal Masher, Wipe Out Hill, Kane Creek (as retribution for my blown up wheel last year), and Cliffhanger (which is an unbelievable trail). We also took a breather-day and ran up into the La Sal's... a few things to tweak on the rig as expected, but I couldn't be happier with the build and performance. After Moab, I had the privilege meeting up with @prodriquez and some overland friends in the Red Cliff area of CO to run Holy Cross and got a fantastic tour of the area via some mountain trails... what a breathtaking landscape and Holy Cross is now one of my favorite trails! Here's a few shots of the trip:

Not a winch was used the entire trip.... Special thanks to Phil & Dana for the tent, accessories, and comradery during the few days of camping at the lake! Can't wait to get back to both areas! Here's to meeting new friends along the way 🍻
What an awesome trip, buddy.

Arkansas? What part of Arkansas are you in? I’m headed out to the San Juans this September for a fall color trip. I moved from Montrose to Little Rock 5 years ago- it still hurts when I see pics like this.

I'm not far from you in the River Valley. I'm tentatively planning a late Sept/early Oct trip for the same thing; have your dates firmed up yet?

@Phil921 🍻

I just completed another Rubicon Trail trip. We drove the 585 miles to the motel in Pollack Pines California on Sunday, and got 15.8 mpg in my 392 with 40s. Then on Monday we drove the first 2/3 of the trail to Buck Island Reservoir and camped there overnight. On Tuesday we drove the last 1/3 of the trail and after airing up the tires drove straight through to home, arriving home at 2 AM this morning. We had a great time and drove right threw every obstacle. The new 4 1/2" Metalcloak lift and 40" tires with PSC Ram Assist made the trail much easier. This was my 8th crossing of the Rubicon Trail (3rd time in this 392) and this trip was the easiest and most enjoyable. There was very little traffic on the trail and we were able to just drive a comfortable pace with no waiting. There were three other vehicles that had broken and were being repaired (all Toyotas), but they had already been moved off the trail and their group did not need any help. My only damage was a scuff on the passenger rear Next Venture fender flare from cuddling up against a big rock near Buck Island. We did have to rescue a Toyota Tundra that had slid off the trail and was on the verge of rolling over. He had already broke his front winch and could not safely extract his truck with just his rear winch.

Start.

Just got back from a +1wk Telluride area CO Trip... 2690mi round trip. We caught the aspen's at the perfect time and ran a bunch of trails from Montrose down through Ouray, Silverton, and Delores. Unfortunately, some asshat in a Kia went the wrong way up Black Bear Pass and got hung up on a switchback edge, so they closed it 🤬... will need to complete that one next year.

It's only my second time wheeling in CO and I gotta say it's an epically beautiful landscape and a hell of alot of fun on the passes & trails. Cheers to those who call that region home 🍻. Can't wait to get back....
