Rumor Mill Time - MY’23 Order Dates and Production Start

I too have an 06 LJR (manual transmission with 32K miles). I don't believe for a minute that just because it was the last year it would be worth any more than an 05. There are no differences between 05 and 06 Wranglers, just as there are no differences between 21 and 22 Wranglers.
The lip of the Moab wheel changed in 06, very hard to notice unless you had them side by side. 04-05 had the original Moab wheel, so there was a difference.

Mine is in the delivery stage. My question to you owners is: How much faster and how much more horsepower do you need after this?

There are things that make each year unique. Like some early builds with the aluminum performance oil pan. The silver tailgate plaques are unique on the early builds. No idea if any of those unique traits will make something more sought after. Like split window corvettes. Or the huge curved rear window cuda’s. 5 window trucks. Only time will tell. There isn’t a lot of 392s regardless of year and model/options. Even less will be stock like an uncut rear wheel well ford bronco. And I know of 1 less 2021 hydro blue one of the 699 made, from the guy on Jlwrangler.

everyone that has one or one on the way, enjoy it, keep it, sell it, whatever you want to do. Only time and money will figure out what these will be worth in the future. I wouldn’t worry about.
That's me, the aluminum pan & silver tailgate plaque....
I feel so bad for the guy that rolled his hydro blue 392, bum deal....

Just checked. Nope. Still don't like the 8 year old Renegade grille....
Yah check BMW forums about the change in grill shape. Granted it hasn't been that long ago that they changed it, but people over there are rabid about it.

I think 392s will be highly sought after regardless of build and model year provided the vehicle remains unmolested with angry grills and other overly customized appearance mods. Even then, if it is something that can be removed and restored at reasonable cost, it make ok.

I see a vehicle that is pretty rare and it is the top of the line model. Combine that with the v8's going away within a year or so, this model will be popular with enthusiast. It is similar to how air cooled 911s are still highly sought after. Jeeps already are one of the least depreciating vehicles and the rarity of the 392 makes it that much more special.

I don't think a 392 is a investment per se, but I'd be surprised if couldn't get today's MSRP for it five years from now, if not more.

I do think Jeep will continue making a high performance Rubicon with the HO Hurricaine engine. It will also likely perform slightly better than the current 392. However, it may be missing that "je ne sais qua" of the v8 and may not be as sought after. I also think it depends on how much the newer jeep changes aesthetically and if 392s look severely dated.

Owners will adapt to the change over time. It always happens
I agree with this in some cases, but I have never warmed up to Lexus after they went crazy with their grilles. After 2015 the LX570 grilles when nuts and I still don't like them. Just ridiculous looking.

Some styling changes grow on you and others not so much.

Now that the 22 is discontinued I wonder of Im gonna get a call from the dealer saying he can get 10K over msrp and put me in a rubicon less 10k?

Agreed.

Correct.

Disagree, but we'll see. "Investment" can me a lot of things, but it also depends upon how long you plan to hold the investment. Just like any investment.

No V6, regardless of horsepower, well ever fill the hole in a true gearhead's heart and soul left by a V8. Ask all of the Raptor owners who wished they would have pulled the trigger on ths 6.2 when they had a chance. I'm not a Ford guy at all, but you couldn't give me a V6 Raptor, but I could be convinced to rock an older V8 model (briefly).

I don't think anyone who has paid attention to Jeep over the past 40 years really thinks the main aesthetics of the Wrangler is ever going to change much. They learned their lesson with the square headlight YJ fiasco and quickly course corrected. There will be minor changes, but I suspect the JL will be the last major update to the Wrangler that could potentially include a high performance (gas powered) option.

Well, there are plenty of things in life we don't understand, but that doesn't make them less true. But this one is fairly simple... Rarity and scarcity are both drivers of inherent value in vehicles (and anything else that is collectible). Now, how collectible will any Jeep be in 20-30 years? That is yet to be seen, but if history is any indicator - and if you understand how history works, it should be - then IF the 2022 turns out to have comparitively low production numbers, then well-preserved examples from that model year will bring a premium even if a similarly (or even identically) equipped version exists in another model year.

Another key factor for the 2022 in particular is that it will NOT be the "virgin" year for the 392 and to anyone who understands auto manufacturing, that will make it more sought after than any 2021. You simply do not want a first run vehicle if you can avoid it, but again, I suspect at least some of the folks on this forum already know that... and unfortunately some of them for the wrong reasons. Also, it sounds like there is not likely to be an "identical" 2023 392XR from what we're hearing, so that will make them even more "unicornish." So that means @1newbie's Pinky XR may be a true unicorn... albiet and ugly pink one, but a unicorn nonetheless. :)
Hey no hating on the Pink Jeep!!! I love mine...

LOL. Nothin' but love here! Just not sure I could rock it. I guess I'm not manly enough to pull it off.
