Replacing stock 392 battery

I have Antigravity Batteries in my other cars and they’ve been amazing as they’re not always driven. The built in jump start is so awesome in case I forget to throw on a charger when I leave on a trip.

How would I know if it’s still u fee warranty? It’s a 2021
I got an extended warranty on my 2021, so warranty is 84,000 miles or 7 years (maybe more, I can't rmember right now). It includes the battery. Good idea on checking with your dealer and get another 3 free battery years if you can.

Your factory battery is an AGM battery made by Deka. Deka has A replacement Intimidator 9A94R.

Man 1000 bucks for a battery is in deed a good Choice for the 392. But dang! I do t think I can do that.
I'm with you. I simply can't spend that kind of jack for a battery even if it is the best battery in the universe.

Last I checked, batteries are a “service item”. service items aren’t covered under warranty. Unless I was misinformed… 🤷🏻‍♂️

I saw a Youtube video from Lite Brite jeeping guys, video is called... Prepping an 800+ HP DEMOND JEEP for Easter Jeep Safari! They rave about the new Antigravity Batteries lithium with built-in emergency jump start, if battery were dead.
Talk about how light they are. And test cold weather issue? Say they are the latest and greatest and are putting them in all of their vehicles.
Pretty much should disregard any “review” from a media source which receives free products to try out.
On the other hand, if you believe they /others like them provide unbiased reviews, you can send me your cool geqr, and i will gladly use it and send you a glowing review as payment.

Truth! I try to never buy what “influencers” promote on their channels and pages, but I’ve been running my Antigravity battery in the E92 M3 track car for years with no issues.

Ah, I see what you mean. That’s the upgraded version. Or is it the same?

I don’t know if it’s an upgrade or not. But here’s a little tidbit. Duracell batteries sold at Sams club are also made by Deka And are usually a lot cheaper.

Check your warranty. That document specifically lists tires, wipers, and brakes as service items but not battery. Its worth the try. Why not?

Yeah… It also states those items aren’t covered by warranty for “normal wear & tear” But are covered if there’s a defect. The tires, fall under that manufacturer warranty, and not Jeep. I did find two other docs indicating the battery. One stated 24 mo/24k miles, the other stated 3/36. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Still, worth a shot.
anyone know if these batteries require “programming” the way BMW does? That’s the biggest crock of 💩 I’ve ever heard. The BMW and Mini need to be programmed when you swap the battery.

Regrest for digressing, just curious if the Jeep is the same, or can we simply swap? I did read the system wasn’t designed for the Lithium batteries. I forget the specifics, but it had to do with the voltage regulation.

I called the dealership. They go by 3 years or 36k miles. But the catch is I am required to bring the whole jeep in so they can generate a code to get it replaced. I can’t tow because it’s in the back of my garage at the moment. Plus it’s just crazy that they require that. But I understand that they have a procedure. Plus I already pulled the battery. I guess I’m back to my battery hunt.

Lame!

Have you used them in cold weather? Curious how they would hold up in winter / -20F temps

Haha I think I’d rather take my chances walking than drive the M3 under 40F degrees weather let alone -20F. 🥶 Even before I’d worry about the battery, I would have a heck of a time with traction on those track tires.

But to answer your question, I have not used the batteries in anything but fair to stinking hot weather. I will be curious as to how a lithium battery does in cold weather as I do plan to swap the stock battery to an Antigravity once the OE fails though. I understand it’s an expensive component, but a battery is also a fairly vital part of you not being stranded in the middle of no where.

Any concern about heating up or fire. I know lipo batteries were burn problems. Also, if you had this battery and it failed. How long would it take to swap it out? Would you be stranded for a week waiting on a package. Do you know anyone that’s had to work with customer service? In my opinion customer service is where it’s at. You can have the best thing in the world, but if they will not help you when there is a problem than it’s worthless.

I’m seriously thinking about buying one (Antigravity) but it’s gotta make sense (aside from cost) if I get good customer service and I can replace the battery if it fails in less than a weekend or a day or two. And it works for the 392 including bolts up like stock. I’ll buy one right now. One major thing it has going for its self… weight factor. I have a very bad back. Two surgeries already. I think I may need a third (fusion) in my older age. The 50+ pound batteries are tough to work with if your me :). Besides. If for some reason I sell the 382, I can pull the battery and toss it in the next thing (assuming it fits I guess).

Also I need to be sure there are no concerns for battery fire. It could be made of gold and amazing in all ways. But if it could burn up my 392 I’d say pass.

I don’t have fears of burn or fire problems, but I guess anything could happen? I would probably be more worried about the lithium batteries in my Apple products burning my body parts than the ones in the M3’s.

As for how long it would take to swap out, it’s literally a drop in process and no need to modify anything if you ever want to go back to a lead battery. And a light one at that considering my heaviest is 15lbs.

As for their customer service, I’ve never had to replace mine yet (4 years old and 2 for the other) but did call them to ask questions before I bought my first one. They were professional and quelled any fears I had at that time. I just did a quick search and although this Ferrari owner had an issue, it seems CS worked with him on diagnosing the issue and a replacement.

What I mean by swap it out... is if it were to go bad in some way. Do you need to get it replaced long distance where you need to wait for something to show up from UPS or something... Or did you get them from a local shop that you can walk into and exchange. If they did agree to replace it, do they then ship the replacement to your house... things like that... so if you were at a Kroger getting some food, and you walk out to your car and its dead... what's next? Tow home, then chk the battery? regardless of if it's bad what's next... call CS and ask them to swap it out and how long would that take? if you need to drive it, it may not be a good deal if it takes a week to get a replacement.

I found the info. I don't have a dealer near me (other than a motorcycle shop). See here for info. I thought it had a longer warranty than 5 years. and full replacement is only in the first 3. I'll keep learning about the battery, but I am concerned that I'll need a replacement some day and be out of luck or need to wait however long it takes for them to decide if I should get one. If I were to spend that kind of cash, I would expect to be well taken care of.
