I do like the sound of the stock system. Pipes are usually in rumble mode better low endAgreed… the tuned / engineered systems from Borla, Corsa, magnalfow etc that retain the valves all seem to be pretty well done.

I liked it too. It is really well done from the factory as far as sound. I honestly hated the look of the giant trash can muffler and afterthought exhaust tips. The Borla sounds and also looks great.I do like the sound of the stock system. Pipes are usually in rumble mode better low end![]()

Question for you - im thinking of installing an aftermarket exhaust system on my ‘22 392XR. Either a Borla ATAK or an AWE. Aside from this CA noise issue you were having, do you like the Borla ATAK system? Would you recommend it? Anything about it you don’t like? Is the idling and local driving exhaust note substantially different than with the stock exhaust? Thank you in advance for any info you can share.Hi all,
I am a California resident and was recently pulled over for “loud exhaust.” I have a Borla ATAK system and I’m concerned that my 392 won’t pass the decibel testing…
Anyone else run into this?
Thoughts?
He hasn’t posted / been active in a month so you maybe waiting a minute on a response from him or California has deemed his typing about Borla too offensive.Question for you - im thinking of installing an aftermarket exhaust system on my ‘22 392XR. I literally keep my stock one on standby for inspections....it will never pass even on the quiet mode...It sounds great in the sandbox however. I am actually switching to Magnaflow now mainly because the parts are easy to maintain, valves, catalytic, etc, whereas Borla relies on stock parts and is expensive to replace.Hi all,

Maybe I'm just not looking at the right thing, but the exhaust that Magnaflow have on their site for the 392 does not have any valves, so it's just permanent loud mode.I literally keep my stock one on standby for inspections....it will never pass even on the quiet mode...It sounds great in the sandbox however. The magnaflow system you’re speaking of is called the rock crawler. It has no muffler at all in the back. It has four small mufflers up near the catalytic converters. They also make a system that does have the valves for a quiet and loud mode.Maybe I'm just not looking at the right thing, but the exhaust that Magnaflow have on their site for the 392 does not have any valves, so it's just permanent loud mode.

You need the 392, MF exhaust set up, it has the valves, it’s also much more expensiveMaybe I'm just not looking at the right thing, but the exhaust that Magnaflow have on their site for the 392 does not have any valves, so it's just permanent loud mode.
Magnaflow rock crawler has no cut out valves. But the other model does have valves. You need the 392, MF exhaust set up, it has the valves, it’s also much more expensive![]()
