Production Quality

So tempted by the TRX…have been for a while. I’ve owned a gen 1 & 2 Raptor, and the new R is VERY tempting but homie don’t have $150K to drop on a pickup.
I say get a TRX while you can. It is a great truck.

The 392 is a blast to drive, especially in urban and offroad settings. But I like to take my TRX across the country at a good clip with a great ride, better seats, and lower cabin noise.

However, I'll be doing a cross country trip this summer in the 392 to Ouray and to family property in Eastern OR for more off road adventures and I can't wait for that fun to begin.

Quality on all new vehicles is a crap shoot but these two toys are t!ts to drive.

Not that I want anyone to have issues, but at least I feel a little better knowing I’m not the only one! I also had an oil leak but the dealer said the filter was loose. I’m 50 and this is my 21st or 22nd vehicle - never have I had this happen before. Now it makes me wonder if I will end up with an adaptor problem as well. Like so many others my muffler was crooked as hell. I didn’t even bother bringing it up because of how lame Jeep dealerships are. I slapped a magnaflow rock crawler exhaust on so now I have no rear muffler.

Interesting about the ac; when the douchebag service guy said it was normal I (in a nice way) said I thought that was bs. Of course he acted like I was the asshole. Now I remember why I said I’d never buy another Jeep when I traded my ‘14 JK. I’m also worried about the motor since I have the hood ole hemi tick. I pulled the trigger and purchased the extended warranty last week specifically because of that. Many, many folks have stated the tick is normal for those engines.
Initially the dealer replaced the oil filter on mine (though it had been on for over 4K miles without a leak) and two days later the leak was back. That's when the dealer decided to replace the entire adapter assembly. The dealer also told me about the "Hemi Tick". However, I currently own a 6.2 Hemi and previously owned a 6.4 Hemi and neither of those vehicles has/had the "Hemi Tick". It sounds more like an exhaust leak to me.

There’s definitely an issue with those adapters based on the amount of folks that have had them replaced on the forum. Probably crappy installation at the engine plant. They’re also on national backorder. I had to track one down at a dealer in Michigan.

Does your TRX have a sunroof?

I sold my TRX and bought a 392 - awesome truck, way better than the Gen 2 Raptor. Keep an eye on values though, they seem to be correcting across the board.

The 392 has been awesome, minus the massive coolant leak from the overflow bottle. Manufacturing defect, the seam isn't sealed and when it gets hot coolant pushes out. Dealer is warrantying, however it seems common and of course the part is out several weeks.

Yes. So far trouble free.
Good to hear. How do you like the build quality of the TRX vs a Raptor. I looked at the TRX for awhile. Never owned a Dodge. Ford is so far behind and I now cutting things like heated steering wheels and multi contour seats.

I had my TRX for a year. It was an early production 2021 Level 2. The interior was amazing. Top notch build quality as far as fit and finish. The truck was a blast to drive and tons of fun.

I had a defective auxiliary radiator that blew on my first trip back from the selling dealer (first 500 miles). The transmission also had issues that were never resolved. It was never filled properly from the factory (confirmed by my servicing dealer). Ram refused to replace it because it wasn’t a drivability issue.

Go to the TRX forum and poke around. There’s a thread over there where guys/ gals are struggling with similar transmission issues (grinding on acceleration) like I had. 100% luck of the draw if you get a lemon or not.

Most guys love their TRX. I think I got screwed with an early production lemon but there seems to be some persistent build quality issues even with the new trucks being built. If you end up getting one make sure the selling dealer checks all of the fluids before you drive it off their lot.

Will do. Thank you

What Robr said. I never had a Raptor. Mine TRX lvl 2 is a 3/21 build. I got lucky. Hoping the 382 is the same. I'll find out this summer.
