NOT HAPPY, 392 WRANGLER BAD ENGINE!

With all that work they’re doing on the engine might as well stroke it to a 427. Jeep Cares might even throw in the 427 badging in there as well. Good luck.

Check your state lemon laws. I bought a 2022 4xe and had issues with it (noticeable vibration between 62 and 68 mph) with less than 500 miles and it made its first trip back to the dealership with a star ticket opened. At 6000 miles it left me stranded on the side of the road with the dreaded “red turtle” error and still had the vibration. I was able to give it back under the lemon law and the 6000 miles ended up costing me less than $500. I found a used 2022 392 and haven’t looked back.

There's a powertrain difference hahaha

Just slightly. The only thing I miss is the regen braking. A jeep with a Jake brake is actually pretty cool. The interesting thing is the mileage. I got 18.5 mpg driving the 4xe to Colorado. Here’s a shot of what I got with the 392 on the same trip. And I have 35” e rated Nittos on the 392 while the 4xe had the stock 33s. Batteries are heavy….

no reason for lemon law at this point, i still need to give them the respect and chance to fix the issue. If its a lifter, cool no big deal. everything on the jeep is perfect except this noise when cold.

Understood. They had my 4xe for two months and had made zero progress diagnosing the issue. I was done, I needed a car I could drive.

Totally bummed for you @hpmaniac. I'm dealing with a different manufacturer defect but similar scenario. Am not pleased with anyone except the Dealership where I purchased the vehicle and subsequently had the problem remedied. Good luck, hope they take care of you.

I asked them if they could help out on making the payment on a broken 100k vehicle with 3200 miles.
I had an electrical demon in my Jeep before my 392. It was a 21 2.0 turbo JLU. It was in the shop more than my garage. They actually did reimburse me for a couple months of payments. Push for it with Jeep cares! I hope this gets resolved, professionally and efficiently. Good luck! 🙏🏼

So the shit is about to hit the fan, i was told vehicle would be worked on Wednesday, heads off Friday. stopped at the dealership today and jeep is still sitting outside. This is absolutely insane crappy service. This Tuesday makes 4 weeks. If i call tomorrow and the jeep is still outside i will go get it and fix it myself. Keep in mind i own a very respected shop in our town and we have been in business since 1989. We would NEVER do this to a customer!! I am not mad the engine has a issue, it happens but to pay 100k for a vehicle and then have it sit outside for 4 weeks with no progress is just gross. I hope Jeep will see this thread.

I'm sorry to hear that you are having such terrible service, That just sucks, I know what I would do if I was in your shoe's (had a shop) pull the engine, forge it, it and punch / stroke it to a 426, eliminate the MDS and change the oil pump out for a hi volume Melling.. That is a PITA to have to work on a 2024 when you laid down a 100K for a new vehicle, Jeep/Stellantis better get of their A$$ and start taking care of there customers, before there are none.. Are there any lemon laws in your state, that might apply just due to the time out of service? I hope you get this resolved and Jeep takes care of you.

Well my plan was to do drop in pistons and rods, cam and lifters before the whipple but I figured it would be a good idea to let the dealer figure out this noise first, incase it was something strange with the engine. Sound is either a lifter or a wrist pin most likely.

You are the victim of Stellantis being on the verge of insolvency.

Yep, I also have a 2025 durango hellcat, bought it while jeep is down. 523 miles and engine light came on today. Stellantis service is so bad I didn't even bother to contact the dealer and I fixed it today real quick. Downstream 02 sensor failed. Just a random fluke. They are ntk ngk sensors, very high quality sensors. A typical customer would of been stuck with bringing the vehicle in and waiting a month for a 15 minute diag and job.

That sucks. When I blew out my rear locker I texted my SA at 2 pm and he said to bring it in and they would tear into same day and get parts ordered. They missed diagnosed the issue on the first try even though I told them what was wrong. They called the next day or so and said I was correct, ordered a new locker and had my Jeep back in about a week.

Finally after 27 days the jeep has rolled into the shop to begin pulling the heads lol. What a joke, i actually had to tell them to order head gaskets, head bolts and lifters so parts where on hand before they removed heads!!

I take it jeep didn't approve of a replacement engine yet?

Nope, they want to pull heads and inspect the lifters. Waist of time because they won't see anything looking at them. Basically it's an educated guess the lifter is the sound. But it's very possible it isn't. I almost went and got it today right before they pulled it in.

I know it's frustrating, but if it's that new, let them deal with it under warranty.

This makes me hope my wife’s 392 will last at least a few years without issues. I never want to deal with a Jeep dealership again. Just bought a new Lexus for myself and was again reminded of the stark difference between the two experiences.
