New Z Automotive things coming

This device sounds promising and I have been tempted to try one for the MDS deactivation. I've had Tazer Mini on the 392 for quite a while now trouble free, and been very happy with it. ...but there have been more than enough reporting problems on the NoLimitz to give me pause. Seems like an awful high number of folks having issues. I see that Joe from Z has posted to this thread a couple of times, but doesn't seem to have really said much to address the high number of issues that have been discussed throughout the thread.

I'm also curious as to if I would have to purchase directly from Z Auto website to ensure getting the "newest" hardware version of these things to try to avoid the issues with early units. I had looked to purchase from Amazon in order to use up some Amazon Gift Cards, but not sure if those are actually from Z or another third-party.

I will be doing a complete forged rebuild on mine after the warranty is gone. I have no faith in plugin devices and only trust actual hardware upgrades. I did this on my 392 Challenger along with tunes on the engine and trans with amazing results.

I suspect I will be returning my NoLimitz to ZAutomotive.

I am on my 3rd replacement and lost all power to my drivetrain for ~5 seconds while on the expressway this week. Once the throttle signal came back, the transmission dropped a couple gears and held it there for a few seconds before returning to 8th. Then about 10 seconds later the throttle was acting like there was an inconsistent signal going to it with random power surges.

I took the next exit and played doctor in the parking lot of a park and ride. Immediately upon removal the Jeep was back to normal.

I had installed this replacement the night prior and noticed that the hazards did not flash in a nice consistent pattern like my 1st NoLimitz, but assumed this was a change in their programming for the replacement devices. While leaving on my commute that morning I noticed my turn signals were not flashing correctly for one-touch lane change, but thought it would clear up in the next start-up. It was on the expressway 10 minutes later that the issue happened.

I really want this device to work, as I do not want to to tune the JL to remove MDS, but cannot have power loss on the expressway and therefore put my family and others in danger.

1st - Worked for a couple weeks then MDS began to randomly reenable.
2nd - Dead on arrival, ZAuto confirmed a production issue after I returned it.
3rd - Issue above.

The install is very simple, and I know I am doing this correctly. I install my own lifts, do my oil changes, have an IT degree, etc, so a simple pig tail connection and plug doesn't phase me. I'm not colorblind either, and am positively using the beige and yellow wire they call for in the install.

I'll see what they come back with and determine a path forward.

I'm not sure if you're unlucky or if I'm lucky. I have had no limits on mine since the first day they came out and I've not had a single problem with it except for one time I let the battery die and I needed to reprogram it. Other than that no issues. I do not use cruise control, off-road. I've heard some people have had an issue with that but I don't use it because the transmission and brakes get hot when I do.

It sounds like there have been some firmware upgrades, have the main issues been addressed? Really like the idea of this blocking the RF. The speed limiter disable, MDS disable, and traction control features would be bonus for me.

I hate to jinx anything but mine has been perfect since summer. I have not tested it off-road, but for street manners it is amazing

Had my second one installed for months… working good on and off road

Update: I received a 4th replacement from ZAutomotive ~1 month ago it has been working flawlessly 👌. From the sounds of it the first two were part of the first production run, which makes sense as I ordered my first on launch day. Then unfortunately the 3rd was just a bad actor.

Appreciate ZAutomotive working through the issue and turning around units quickly.

Idk if its possible, but id prefer my Tazer to just auto default off road + mode to on. I could be wrong but I dont feel like MDS engages in Off Road + mode. And, I prefer its shift points.

Wish someone could figure out how to pin its tune enabled with traction control on.

It would be nice to use a steering wheel shortcut instead of taking my eyes off the road to hit the sport+ button. I'm used to turning it on when I get in. Only time I turn it off is on longer HWY runs where my foot is knee deep in the go pedal anyway. I turn it back on when heading up/down the mountain, holds the gears much better. I don't like in town as 1st gear jerks too much...makes me look like a stick shift newbie.

My 2021 definitely will engage 4 cyl mode in OR+ but some newer owners have posted that theirs does not. At least one of those did not know where to look to see the 4 cylinder mode light. OR+ is awfully aggressive, keeps RPMs quite high when deceleration to a stop light for example.

lol I know exactly what you mean. My wife and I hated it in town. I manually shift 100% of the time.

Agreed. I've never seen my '24 drop to 4cyl mode with OR+.

As with any other modification outside of OEM or dealer installation. Presuming your talking about a factory warranty claim that involves the engine. It depends on how the dealer handles it. There is no straight yes/no answer. If a person is concerned about warranty issues, they shouldn't get one. Just like any other modifications to your jeep. Ie. Lift, tire size change, gear change, trans case change etc. If the dealership told Stellantis because they thought the z automotive caused the issue, chances are they will deny the claim. Im sure they work like insurance companies.
