Lift height coming in much taller than advertised

With that much lift, the shocks might already be fully extended if the wrong springs. Diameter of coils and coil count would be very helpful to solve this riddle.

I hope you get this resolved soon.
No doubt if it is still on stock shocks. I assumed new ones were installed.

Looks like she has Falcon shocks. Might want to check their stroke.
Yes I have the Falcon SP2 3.3 Fast Adjust Piggyback Shocks

Are the “correct numbers “ just a paper tag on the springs ?

I would take a caliper and measure the coil diameter and then count the number of coils from bottom to top and send that info. Wrong springs.
The numbers are stamped onto the spring but I will definitely do that. Thank you

I am saying it's their 3.5" kit. It looks like the same height as mine. I actually love how yours looks but I understand it's not what you wanted.

Can you list the exact kit you purchased and take some measurements?

It may be time to discuss it with a different shop too. Give Rebel Offroad or Redemption Offroad a call and see if they can help you.

This is my Teraflex 3.5 RT3 kit that came out 3..5" plus another inch on the tires.

Thank you, this is so helpful. Yours looks great! I don’t think it looks proportional on mine. It just looks off and my tires look too small. I really didn’t want to have to replace the driveshaft and other things to be able to handle the extra height. Can you see the numbers on your springs? I’m curious if they are the same as mine. My spring numbers are
02-22-421-400-1 Qty 1
02-22-411-400-1 Qty 1
02-21-631-350-1 Qty 2
And this is how much space I have between the 37s and fender.

Thank you, I do too. I have replaced the shocks with the Falcon SP2 3.3 Fast Adjust Piggyback Shocks

Bone stock suspension on 37” KO2 is 7” tire to flare driver side front.
Thank you! That’s extremely helpful! Mine is about 11 1/4 on my 37 Nitto grappler.

Hi Brandy,

I'm assuming:
  1. OEM tires were BFG KO2's. They measure out at 34.5"
  2. You moved to Nitto RG's, which measure out at 36.77"
  3. You added a 2.5" lift over OEM
  4. So (36.77-34.5) + 2.5 = 4.77" of lift height is expected
  5. The typical lift settles over ~a week and I would like expect a new lift to ride ~ 1 inch taller than spec until it settles.

My wife is 5' 2" so I completely understand your concerns. It looks like PDawg is getting you a few measurements so I'll ask ask a couple questions that haven't been asked regarding your driveshaft and ride quality:
  1. Did your shop do an alignment after they did the lift? A full alignment is always needed.
  2. What did they use to balance your tires (beads or weights). A 37" tire should NEVER use balancing beads.
  3. What PSI did they set your tires to? An overinflated tire will add height. I live in Colorado and I run around 30 psi on my tires.
  4. Your driveshaft, based on my assumptions above, will be totally fine as long as your alignment shop got everything back to spec. Remember, tires do not count towards the 3.5" of suspension lift that the JL can support on the OEM driveshaft... But more suspension travel does and that geometry is absolutely critical! If your shop did an alignment, you would have received an alignment report with all of your paperwork🤘.

My numbers are a lot different than yours and my height measurements from front tire to fender trim is 8.5".

So (36.77-34.5) + 2.5 = 4.77" of lift height is expected

This equation is off a little. It would really be ( ( new tire size - old tire size) / 2 ) + lift height. This is because only half of the tire diameter is below the axle centerline. So instead of:
( 2.27 ) + 2.5 = 4.77
it would be:
( 1.135 ) + 2.5 = 3.635

Thank you! That’s extremely helpful! Mine is about 11 1/4 on my 37 Nitto grappler.
That puts you at a 4.5” lift since your tire is about .2” more radius than my 37” KO2’s.

4.50” is a L O T on that spec. ParadigmDawg is 1.5” taller than my Stock Suspension. Sounds perfect. 4.5” lift over stock = wrong springs.

I think it actually comes out a little more but definitely close

Dang! Mine is measuring almost 3 inches more. My springs are 21.5 in the front. I think yours is perfect. I need your springs. Thank you so much for getting me all this info. I’m going to go over this with Teraflex.

Yes!! Thank you! Yet Teraflex says all the correct parts were sent. Definitely not the case. Thank you for sending your info. Now I have specs to go back to teraflex with.

Thank you for all the info! Yes, he got me some great measurements and that gives me a lot to go back to TeraFlex with. My ride quality is not great. I know that with the lift and bigger tires it wouldn’t be the same but it has a vibration and is super bumpy and bouncy. The steering wheel goes nuts when I go over bumps like a trail road crossing. I do believe that is because of the excessive height.

1. The shop did do a full alignment. I’m not sure the specs. We went done working on it so I didn’t get all the info yet.

2. The tries are clearances with weights.

3. My tires are at 32 psi

Thank you so much for getting me all this info. Hopefully we can get it figured out soon.
