I’m Sorry but I Have To Vent: Mandatory Red Seats?! Puke.

I'm in the minority here I'm sure, but I have some type of hang up about altering a 90k vehicle (even if I think I'm improving it).

I think it comes from back in my days of looking for used YJs and TJs to buy. I got so annoyed with all the (what I felt was) stupid crap people did to their Jeeps. I'm sure it was great for them, but not so great when I'm forced to deal with the crappy rough country lift they installed if I want to otherwise buy the jeep they're selling.

I know seats aren't a huge deal and could even make the jeep more attractive overall to a majority of people, but I feel like I never know what might happen, so I want to keep something fairly stock if I need to unload it (and my garage is already a $*#! show of stuff that doesn't have a designated place).

I know it doesn't make a huge difference in the end, but again, just a hang up of mine that I admit doesn't make much sense.

I *kinda* get this.... but I fall on the side of "if I paid 90k for a vehicle it should be exactly what I want it to be"...... if that requires me throwing some money and modifications into it, then so be it.

I have taken the stance with my 20a that I don't want to do anything that cannot be reversed. I'm keeping everything I pull off so that if could be returned to stock if I ever wanted.

The YJ in my profile pic is actually one I bought for about 6k back in '15. I put about 40k into fixing it and restoring it (but it still has the crappy rough county lift on it).

Don't regret it. It was near death.

About seats though, there are lots of temporary options as well that look good and are easy to just take off. While not that specific YJs original ones, my YJ has original Sahara green and tan fabric/leather seats (still with the pockets/pouches) under some neoprene covers.

I completely agree. I called to check in on the 392 2024 edition (I have a 2022 Jeep 392 XR and using as a daily driver so already have over 36K miles so I am hoping to purchase one more and store it before they discontinue them (It drives so smooth you wouldn't believe). I was super excited so see that had they continued its production, but the red seats are such a turn-off that I could not consider purchasing it. I hope they allow black leather interiors on their Jeep 392 XR in 2025. The Red color looks so nasty and cheap looking. It would look especially bad with other colors besides black. Terrible idea for Jeep 392 designers to make red monitory.
Pic from the dealer today I think the red and black are ok some of the other colors are definetly iffy though...

Hey guys,

So I’m going through a rough time with my 392 order (seen in my only other post on this forum), and it’s all because of the fire engine red seats they require to be in every single 392. I have an order in for Sarge Green and I’m about to cancel it and put a new order in (or just stick with my 2023 4xe) because I can’t stomach the idea of driving around like it’s Christmas 12 months out of the year. Green, red, and bronze. I don’t think I could pick uglier colors if I tried.

Yellow on red on bronze? Red on red on bronze? Blue on red on bronze? Green on red on bronze? This makes those colors unbuyable unless you’re willing to pay thousands more to reupholster the seats and/or have seat covers. Idk about you but I cannot stomach the idea of paying almost $100 thousand dollars for a Jeep Wrangler and then having to immediately pull out the seats because they are atrocious. Just the idea that you’re paying $100k for a jeep wrangler and not given the option to choose between red seats and a black seats is offensive. And on top of that, they get rid of the one color that the red seats would look best with: sting gray!

I know jeep has smart people working for them and I love their products (I’ve had a 22 gladiator Mohave, a 22 Sahara 4xe and now a 23 rubicon 4xe), but somebody please tell me what they were thinking? Maybe I’m missing something?

(Rant over)

While I don’t like the red seats either; thinking this might be an indication that this is the last year for the 392. Go out with a bang and be something special like the 20th anniversary. Idk, could be wrong.

Reviving an old thread. I have an Anvil 392 on order and while I do like the red seats I know many others might not. As I was on the Jeep site today I downloaded a brochure and on the 392 page it says black leather (late availability). Not sure if this is new or old but thought I would share what I saw. Maybe gives hope to those out there that hate the red. It does still have red stitching :). Pic attached.

Honestly, when I ordered my Firecracker, I was really worried about Red/Red Seats and was even looking at Katskinz options. Now that I've had it for almost 4 months it's not an issue and everyone I ask for an opinion loves it as is. I might swap them later, but I sort of doubt it at this point.

I HATED the red seats when they were introduced. I thought it was just dumb that Jeep wouldn’t offer the option to choose black. In fact, I said something along the lines of ‘I’d never purchase a 24 because of the awful red seats’. Anyway, fast forward several months and I end up trading my 21 sting grey for a 24 hydro blue….and I freakin’ love the red seats. Contrary to what most people think I think the blue looks good with the red. Honestly they’re not as “red” as I thought they would be. In other words they’re not obnoxious. My 2 cents.

Anyone been able to confirm, through an order, that black seats are available?

Love the red seats but agree with there needs to be a choice at this price point. I love white silver anvil with red seats. Love the color combo, color deviation and added pop. You can only get red with the 392…kinda cool to me.

After owning the 2024 392 for a few months, I didn't even notice the red seats anymore (they're more like burgundy color in person, especially when the doors were closed.)

When I first took delivery of the 392, I put a coat of GYEON Quartz LeatherShield on the seats. Then once in a while, I used the Chemical Guys Leather Quick Detailer to wipe-clean the dirts on them. They were easy to maintain.

I'm ok with mine as well. It's just like the Grill new is scary!! LOL
Should there be a choice yeah, but I'm good with mine.
and I have a red Jeep too
The seats match the BBQ sauce too
Completely off topic, but Rudy's is awesome.

Their rub is fantastic on steaks and smoked beef! And now I'm hungry!

I have to say the Napa red seats sold it for me. I picked the 24 over the 23 because of it. It looks great with the Anvil paint scheme. I would have gotten the white, but I drove a 2012 JK Rubicon for 12 years wanted a different color. A lot of non-Jeep owners like it. I get a lot of complements. They are soooooo much more comfortable then the old ones. Plus, when you tint the windows, you don not really see them anyway.
