But wouldn't the proximity be checked by the onboard PCM or ECU or whatever?? Not what's in the doors.

The proximity sensors work. No mods needed there. I got my doors off sting gray willy's jeep with remote entry and power heating, but not blind spot monitoring mirrors. Rekeying the lock is cheap (mopar kit). I ordered the BSM mirrors from quadratec and they plug right in and work just like full doors mirrors do.

So you can buy whatever color and have them repainted. I do recommend getting doors with proximity sensors and power mirrors so you have the right wiring harness in the door.
With the non BSM mirrors, power adjustment still worked, i just got a dash warning the BSM was not available until I got the BSM mirrors.

I really like the half doors. Watch ebay, craigslist and classified section on jeep forums and you will find what you are looking for. I ended up with about 6k in mine by the time I was done. But I've got them now and enjoy them.
