first time EVER death wobble 392 with 9084 miles

Check them all. I had several loose balljoint nuts, tie rod and pitman arm nut loose. That was with less than 1000 miles on it.

Curious how did you find out they were loose? Any issues alerted you to inspect?

I added a steering brace and tie rod/draglink set up. Once I found pitman arm nut was loose and a tierod, I checked everything. Did not instill much confidence in QC. Check your nuts.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to share my experience.

I have a 2023 with 12,500 miles and I had a death wobble on the freeway at around 85 earlier today. Its been a dream to drive so far without any issues except for the transfer case motor which was replaced by the stealership a couple months back.

I plan to get under it tmro and do a full inspection. Will post back with my findings.

I haven't seen anyone address this here but I may have overlooked it. There mare actually {2} different nuts for the Pitman arm. One for the steel replacement is different and has to be installed with a special lock tight or it will over time become loose. It's a recall ...............................

Another recall is the backstrap on the 392 door........................

good morning, anyone got any ideas why? nothing is changed all stock from factory and 37psi in the tires all 4 corners. hit a bump yesterday and holySH#$ scary all over the place... thanks for your help
Read my toe in post

So I did a 5 tire rotation all but the spare were worked over chunks missing all over changed my toe in from 1/4 to about 1/8 (ordered plates from Amazon that bolt to the hub with wheels removed. Should be here Dec 17th ). using levels as straight edge off the rims as others have suggested . I will re check when tool arrives .Checked all-ball joints.about the track bar bolts I was able to get them a bit tighter 12 -15 degrees or so . All tires aired to 32 psi nitto grail grapplers , reset steering wheel to straight. Went back to the bridge that caused the DEATH WOBBLE AND WAIT FOR IT. smooth sailing just a bump bump no twitch no shake or shimmy solid as it should be . Was it the toe in at 1/4 don’t know I did put my best two tires on the front was it that don’t know was it the slight re torquing of track bar don’t know , but it wasn’t my cheep steering dampener that I replaced and relocated up out of the way like the stock one was that I smashed on a rock. I did drive the Jeep for a bit with no dampener no death wobble . I set the toe with out the tool I ordered cause the wobble was bugging me and I couldn’t let it go.
37 psi is too high ,maybe better mpg but they will wear un equally and ride quality is much lower .

Can someone please explain this whole death wobble thing to me? How long does it last? Reason I ask is I'm on my 3rd and 4th Wrangler and coming back from having a bolt check after the lift and tires on my '24 392 and I was crossing a small bridge <1 mile from home and the Jeep started shaking, but just for about 30 seconds. It has happened once before on a nearby road before the bolt check. Never experienced this on my other Jeeps - both of those have AEV lifts. The 392 is not AEV, but a custom one from the shop as are most that they do. Thanks all!

just spoke with dealer they say stabilizer shock probably went...
They're full of it. So called steering stabilizers mask mild death wobble. They don't cause it. Something in your steering or front suspension is loose, broken, worn, or maladjusted.

Headed north on HWY 79 from the intersection of 77 near Oracle AZ. About a mile in came to a bridge crossing hit the far side of the bridge steering wheel lightly shimmed for about 4 seconds no problem I say ,but has never happened before . Head to the Christmas party ,fast forward coming home South bound on 79 hit the same bridge and BAM DEATH WOBBLE violent shaking at 60 had to hit the brakes and come to an almost complete stop I could not hold the steering wheel steady whole Jeep shook . Just glad that nobody was behind us .
Death Wobble.🤬👎👎thanks Jeep

My track bar was not loose really but I was able to tighten it up a bit on both ends 12-15 degrees actually

got her back. it was the steering stabilizer shock.. replaced and back in business under warranty..

Happy you got it back and are happy. My 2024 392 had a bad wobble with <1,500 miles. Keep an eye on it as my 2024 factory ball joints were toast most likely since new.

@flynbvr - Any update?

At 18K miles I got death wobble scared the s!@# out of my wife. I crawled under there and found the stock steering stabilizer had leaked all of it's oil out replaced it with a FOX 2.0 and have put another 10K miles on it no wobble and no problems.
I had a 2018 JL that had death wobble and had a safety recall from the factory to replace the stabilizer and problem went away.
So you might just swap that made in Mexico unit and see if it fixes you issue. Worked twice for me.

Got less than 1000 miles and started feeling a little shimmy. Checked my track bar, both ends were only ~80ftlbs. Torqued them to 110 and all is good again.

So if you put a lift on they tell you check torques at 500 miles, but a new Jeep no recommendation from the dealers???

Stabilizer wouldn’t be the culprit or fix the issue.
Steering components are likely worn or damaged.
