Finally finished “tweaking” my AEV XR 392…

Thank you. Seems very easy I just need to find a Jeep dealership that is AEV dealer. ill Contact one
thx a lot
You can also have your jeep sent there, but I have bought three through 2 different dealerships and it was a lot easier. Either way you will enjoy the experience and quality of the AEV components.
I was seriously thinking about letting Rubitrux do this Jeep, but warranty etc won again!
AEV builds components that look like they were factory made for the Jeep.
Good luck, holler anytime if I can answer any questions.✌

Check out this website… American Expedition Vehicles
My dealership is an AEV dealer.
Once I got my notification that my Jeep was being built, I arranged for my Jeep to be transported to AEV. From there it took about 8 weeks for the entire conversion by AEV. Once it was finished, AEV sent it to my dealership where I took delivery as a turn key vehicle.
AEV is fabulous to deal with and their customer care is fantastic.
So u basically pay one shot all with dealer. And from Toledo plant they send it to AEV and back to dealer where u order correct ?

@Tree , can you say more about the AEV lift? I called them today and they said that they didn't have a 392 specific lift yet and that people were installing the Diesel specific kit. The caveats there are that you have to figure out your own bump stops and that there are no instructions.

Hello Bacon392…
I’ll do my best, I’m not sure exactly what you are asking… but I’ll try and answer any questions you have.
I’m not aware of any “specific” lift for the 392… I think what AEV offers is more than sufficient with the increase in front end weight with the 6.4 vs the 3.6 Pentastar. This is the main reason I opted for the Bilstein HP8100 shocks.
My lift is the AEV 2.5” Dual Sport RT Suspension lift.
Since the Rubicon sits 1” taller than the other trim levels, this AEV lift gives me a total of 3.5” of lift over a standard JL.
The lift itself provides an extremely smooth ride. Speed bumps, potholes, washboard roads, rough terrain and rocks etc, are a thing of the past with this particular setup. I do not and have not experienced any “bottoming out” issues with this setup.
The 8100’s are phenomenal shocks! I’ve run Fox, Fabtech, Icon, Pro Comp and King shocks on past Jeeps and several of my trucks, and these Bilstein 8100’s are BY FAR the best riding shock I’ve ever put on a Jeep… period!
My Jeep handles extremely well and will literally “drift” on dry pavement when coming out of a corner at high speed vs giving excessive “body roll”… it is a fantastic suspension lift and will afford you a lot of confidence in the way your rig handles on the street wet or dry, as well as any off road situations you may encounter. The AEV JL370 package is expensive, but worth every penny!
There are a lot of wonderful products out there… IF I had to choose a “Plan B”… it would be EVO MFG.
This is my third AEV, I had a 2012 JK with Pentastar, a 2014 JK with 5.7… and my current setup is by far the very best yet.
I hope this helps.
Holler if you have any questions.

Thanks for the info!

To be clear, I'm a big fan of AEV. I had their 4.5" lift on a JKU and it rode exactly as you describe. Just planted and confident.

My confusion about the 392 is that their website does not list a 392 specific variant, only 3.6/2,0 and 3.0 (diesel). So I called them. The guy I spoke to at AEV said that the 392 kit will use the springs from the diesel lift given the weight of the vehicle. When AEV does a JL370 in their shop, they just know what differences there are between the parts/steps they need for the Diesel and those they need for the 392 and just get it done. However, there is no retail kit available that I can buy and install myself or have a shop install....yet, but should be real soon now.

Notably, they plan to only release the 392 variant with 8100 shocks.

My two AEV’s side by side. The one on the right is a 2014 with 5.7.✌🏼

I

We like the same things... I've had AEV snorkels, Pintlers, Savegres (I & II) , and Gobi racks on three jeeps before the
AEV catches a lot of flak… by those who have NEVER owned or driven one…
Just my $.02💪🏼🇺🇸😎
Kinda like people “knocking” the XR package… if they ever had one, they’d LOVE IT!🤣💪🏼🇺🇸

Well, yes and no. There's a lot to like about XR, but the whole reason I'm looking into AEV is that I'd love a more sure footed handling experience.

I agree 100%.
The XR has nothing to do with AEV.
Everyone asks… didn’t AEV do away with MOST of the XR components?
Yes… yes they did, but in MY MIND… I have an AEV RUBICON 392 XR.

Has anyone had the JL370 done and then wanted to change to 35’s? Does any reconfiguration need done beside the tire size speed calibration?

If you have an XR and you don’t want the full JL370 since the rear end is already 4.53, can they just keep most of the XR parts on it? Looking for a happy medium from AEV with the 392. Mostly bumpers and the lift but not full reconfigure

Not sure if it's different now, but I dropped my 10th Anniversary Rubicon JK at AEV for an install of individual parts in 2015. They were willing to quote me for the parts and labor even though I was not purchasing the full JK350 package. I requested the front bumper, wheels, tires, suspension, tire carrier, fuel caddy, snorkel, and hi-lift jack (left the stock rear bumper on). In this case, I got the look and functionality I hoped to achieve, but did not pay for the complete JK350 package; going this route means you do not get the build plaque, windshield banner, exterior badging, gauge cluster, logo headrests, etc.

Having the AEV build plaque on two previous Jeeps helped TREMENDOUSLY with both when I decided to sell them.
The advice given to me at the time was… having the AEV build plaque “proving” that they were legitimate AEV built Jeeps was where the money would be.
They both brought a premium price when I decided to sell them.
I know if I were looking to buy a AEV jeep, the build plaque would be very important to me.
I’ve seen quite a few supposedly AEV built Jeeps “advertised” as such… but if it doesn’t have the build plaque attached… I walk away.
It’s kinda like a “kit” car vs an original.

Looks amazing!!! I’m 90% sure I’m going to pull the trigger on the rear bumper, tire carrier and aux fuel caddy. You have any issues with fitment, ease of use, etc?

Completely agree. Since that build I’ve only gone with turn key packages/those with an AEV build plaque. Didn’t in 2015 as I was in high school and lacked the liquid cash for the full build lol.

Can attest to the increase in trade-in value as well. Getting a great deal on my ‘18 JL370 that’s being traded for my 392.

Thank you cgrosen324.
AEV makes phenomenal components that literally look like they are factory fitted.
There are zero issues with fit etc.
Although I bought all of my AEV Jeeps as turn key vehicles, I’ve never seen an issue when adding their products onto several of my friends “built” Jeeps with AEV components.
Thanks again for the kind words.✌🏼
