I know it’s automated and I’m not trying to turn it off either .. I just want to know when it kicks inIt’s automated. There’s no setting to turn it off or on. It’s also active when Off Road+ is engaged.

You don’t have the display illuminate on the center cluster?I know it’s automated and I’m not trying to turn it off either .. I just want to know when it kicks in
Yeah that’s what I’m trying to figure out . Is it just a default setting ? Or do I need to change the dash display settings ?You don’t have the display illuminate on the center cluster?
It comes on when driving and not under a heavy pedal.Yeah that’s what I’m trying to figure out . Is it just a default setting ? Or do I need to change the dash display settings ?
Ok thanks ! Maybe I’m too heavy on pedal ! And I likely blast radio when cruising so never noticed any exhaust differenceIt comes on when driving and not under a heavy pedal.
I’ll try to get a video of it tomorrow when I’m driving.
For my driving style, it doesn’t come on often. It’s momentary. And if you can’t tell, MOOAR accomplished their goal.
You may notice the exhaust note change. It resonates more in 4 Cyl mode.
My GC SRT, would only do it in “Auto” mode. When placed in sport or track mode, it cancelled it out.
When I learned about OffRoad+, the first thing I looked for was 4 cyl activation to cease. It didn’t. Bummer…
I’ll try to get the video tomorrow.
The only time I have seen the 4cyl light up is on the fuel economy display. Get fuel economy pulled up and you will see 4cyl pop up and can hear the distinct change in engine tone. Goes from sounding like a thundering v8 to.....well.....an inline 4. Does not sound fitting at all, but it is not that bad. I think it is foolish and they probably did all this work to get .5mpg on a EPA test cycle. I don't think mine stays in 4cyl enough to make a difference. Manual shifting and offroad + kill it as long as you stay in that mode. Best I can tell, the MDS does not significantly impact engine longevity. Even if you spent 10% of time in this mode, which I don't, at 200,000 miles it would be like having 180k on one bank and 200k on other side which does not seem significant. If lifter fails, different story. The horror stories I saw were with the 5.7 early versions. Hopefully later versions are getting it right. You don’t have the display illuminate on the center cluster?

I was considering the Livernois tune to ditch the 4cyl, but after talking to 2 dealers today, was advised not too. One of the dealers who works at a dealer that does Gmc and stellantis told me a tuned vette came in the other day for routing maintenance and they plugged it up to the computer to read routine codes. Shortly after they hooked it up, they got a call from GMC and were told to void the guy's powertrain warranty due to aftermarket tune. He was not even in for a warranty claim. Service manager was concerned stellantis could do the same.
For me the vehicle is simply amazing. I don't know what I'm missing with the tune, but what I do have is insane performance that makes me grin like a kid and the security of a full factory warranty. If something breaks, jeep will fix it. After warranty runs out, I'll probably do some stuff.
Did an informal 0-60 with full tank of gas and passenger on damp road on way home today and got 5.28 but didn't tell her to stop the stopwatch until we were going 65, so that number is not accurate and probably high, but still......crazy for a warrantied jeep. I'm having too much fun right now to introduce any warranty worries at this point.
Maybe haven't spent enough time in offroad +. Will try to provoke it tomorrow. Make sure you do the exhaust burble pop thing in offroad + where you accelerate and then abruptly let off gas going about 20 mph and listen to it pop pop pop and burble as it deceleratesMakes sense why I see it often
I stay in the fuel economy mode most of the time.
OffRoad+ does not kill it though.
That was the first thing I looked good.
It reduces it, only be it’s holding the gear longer and throttle input is more sensitive.

Offroad + makes driving around town a little TOO epic. I feel at that point like I am TRYING to attract attention.
Would not be worth it to me to run in manual just to stop 4cyl nor running on offroad + all the time just to reduce it.
I'm informed that the speed govenor can also be adjusted, have you found that to be the case?As of right now, the Livernois tune is the only way to disable it. I contacted the Tazer people a few months ago, to see if they could add it, but they claimed they don’t have access to that control.
Yes there are a couple of aftermarket ways to do that, Tazer has that ability.I'm informed that the speed govenor can also be adjusted, have you found that to be the case?
Nope... Tazer can not do it. I called Z-Automotive and they told me that they are forbiden by whatever source from messing with governor adjustment.Yes there are a couple of aftermarket ways to do that, Tazer has that ability.
But it requires you to disable airbags and abs so if you crash at a higher speed than most parts of your 392 is rated to travel, you are taken out of the gene pool. </sarcasm>
Yes, if you put the Jeep into manual shift mode. It won’t activate while accelerating so you can stay in normal automatic mode, then hit the paddles to go manual. I know this from personal use.Do we know if MDS can be turned off without tuning?
