Does anyone know if the 392 will have the engine start stop technology? The shop foreman at my dealership said this feature is the reason the head needs to be replaced by 50k miles on the v8s. I certainly hope they did not put it on this.

As far as I know, vehicles using the 6.4/392 HEMI engine do not employ the start stop technology. However they do use a Multiple Displacement System (MDS) that supposedly can be turned off. Also, all 6.4/392 HEMI engines use Variable Cam Timing (VCT)

I have a 2021 392 Durango and it does not have the start stop technology so I would assume that the 392 Jeep will not.

Dealer said all cars now have it -although no one has seen the 392 so could not swear to it.
There’s a google fix

Sooo...my 2019 Rubicon has the start/stop switch on the dash below the radio. I did notice that the 392 exhaust diverter switch is where my start/stop switch is...THANK GOD!

They did not put the start / stop technology on the 392, and we were so relieved because we hated it on other rubicon that we traded in.

I asked when we ordered - the salesman said ALL vehicles have it now. He cannot tell us how to UNDO IT but that there is a google fix for it.

I'm not currently in possession but it supposedly does NOT have engine start/stop from what I've read and members here that are currently driving their 392s are confirming this. It sounds like your salesperson is uninformed.

At the time we ordered no one had seen one so everyone was uninformed. A lot of guessing -

Yeah no electronic start stop in this v8 wrangler, thank god! Who would wanna turn off that growl it makes?! The only thing that worries me a little is the variable cam timing, I hate that they do cylinder deactivation to help with gas mileage lol

I have not found a Tuner for the JL yet that has a function to disable the Variable Displacement function on the Rubicon 392 yet. Then again the after market companies are scrambling to catch up with the release of the 392s.

Let me know if you end up finding one and buying one that you like, I'd be curious to do something similar to my 392 eventually!
