Anyone take other steps to suppress the resonance? My 2021 392 only had very minor resonance. My 2024 is borderline unbearable (both SOT). I get it if I go down a hill off throttle and sometimes if I let off the gas just as a gear change is happening and the transmission "hangs" between gears or executes a slow upshift. I've unplugged all ANC mics and even unplugged the sub itself and it isn't that. I'm thinking of bringing it to a custom exhaust shop to see if they can some sort of resonator to kill the resonance without reducing the volume. Anyone else go a similar route?

Check out Magnaflow Street system. NDT (No Drone Technology) is small canister beside each resonator that helps remove drone.

Try running slowly in low range with engine rpms around 2,000 rpms....drone will be crazy.

For best results.... you could also treat rear storage area...floors and walls with Dynomat sound deadening. Even better, remove all seats and treat all floors and doors. If you are not familiar, a local car audio shop can advise.

I ended up unplugging all 4 mics. And what a difference it made!!
The cabin is actually much quieter, the normal engine drone sound is still there but barely noticeable and not as annoying as the artificially generated noise from the sub. Also the quality of the audio system has improved.

Hkatrib, how did you get at the two mics on the rollbar right there at the front seats? I have removed the two rear mics and it made a big difference in my Jeep. It is a 2022 model.
Do you remove the allen head bolts for the speakers and they drop out and you can reach the mic or connector?
or are they fake allen heads ?

Easy to just unplug the sub instead of tearing the interior apart to unplug the noise cancelling mic's.

I've have my 2024 since November 2024, 3500 miles and it is become beyond annoying.

My 2024 has been flawless expect for the exhaust drone. I'd change out the exhaust IF I knew the after market exhaust would fix the issue and IF I was going to keep my 392.

I will probably trade it or sell it rather sooner than I originally thought. I am not finding any extra time to drive to any trails and Florida sucks for off-road adventures.

I had Borla on my 21 and don't remember the drone after I installed it... must have went away or drowned out with more glorious noises. My 24 is much more pronounced but I DID keep the Borla and will be installing it soon (maybe today). I'll keep you updated on if it helps

My 24 with the SOT made the same noise. Sounded like the bass boom in a rap song.

I installed the Magnaflow RockCrawler exhaust which removed the exhaust performance mode and have not noticed it since.

Its either gone, or I've gotten used to it.

That's an idea ( unplug the sub).
I'm not an expert, but maybe the drone is from not having a true 'H' pipe up there in front of the resonators. I seem to remember I read somewhere that a 'H' pipe is important to balance the exhaust sound.
I think I read that, I'll look for that information. Magnaflow wants $3800 and change for their exhaust system.

I removed all 4 mics as well. So now, any drone is from exhaust not subwoofer attempting to cancel. I found that the ANC may work better at Hwy speeds, but while offroad in low range…. terrible low frequency tone.

yes they are there, not 5 inches from the speakers, but I don't know how to get to them without taking out the dremel tool and just cutting them out! annoying.
MDDrums suggestion of just disconnecting the sub is looking better and better.

I thought about just shooting a tube of black silicon through the cut grille slits into the microphones, and they would solidify. No input then! That's more permanent, . Don't know how the next guy or gal that owns this Jeep will feel about that?

I did take the roll bar speaker grill off. It was easy, four Allen head screws, and found bad news and some good news.
Start with the good news, they used nice tape with outside foam wrap to silence any vibration of the speaker wires. Nice little attention to detail item.
Bad news, speakers in the roll bar are not big enough to cause vibration requiring foam tape !
I took that faux pseudo 6x9 cover off and was hoping for some good ole 1977 era 6x9 tri-ax speakers. Nope, just little bitty things.
They are not even as big as the 5 1/4 " round ones I removed from my old TJ roll bar! More annoying.
Then I couldn't get to the microphone wires or the mics after removing the speakers. Much disappointment. Put it all back together.

For a test I think I will get a cotton ball, flatten it, and cover the small grille for the mics with the cotton & gorilla tape, as a test. see what it does. Less invasive and less permanent. (Although, Gorilla tape can be more permanent) LOL

if no change, disconnect the sub. Yeah, something like that.
I need to work on the sway bar links and quit messing with these mics.

Have to remove side panel in roll bar to remove front mics.

You just need to remove the t25 screw as in picture and then pry the panel gently with trim removal tool from the same corner where the screw is, there are a couple of white clips that will pop out. You don’t have to completely remove just enough to drop down in order to unplug the mics, since these are small plugs, Use long nose pliers and gently pull the plugs while depressing the lock tab. I then used zipp ties to tie the loose plugs to one of the holes in the cross bar to keep them from rattling.
I wish I had taken photos when I did it, however I took one to point out the screw in question.

Yeah, I had taken the three screws on the middle panel front, on the rollbar. That didn't help any.
That screw you point out is right above the front seat head rest. I will try that one.

So the drone / heavy bass noise is not near as bad with the Borla Atak installed. It just doesn't have that same annoying resonance. I know it went away in my 21 after install as well but the drone was never as pronounced.

The Borla also has a great sound with the valves closed with no drone that I notice.

Glad to hear that worked for you. Anyone put a Borla S on a 24 that had bad drone (worse than the pre-refresh) and it reduced/eliminated the drone? Borla Atak is a bit loud for me.

Yes, it makes a difference! Removed the two microphones from the roll bar right above the front seats. Worked like a champ. Thank you hkatrib, removed the one screw you pointed out and there it was ! Pulled the panel down easily, unplugged the microphones. Actually, I accidentally pulled the mic on the driver side out of its small mounting spot and it made getting to the connector much easier ! LOL
So, I pulled the other mic out, disconnected it and put both of them in a ziplock bag. Placed it in the center console , for the next owner.
In case they want to reconnect the mics for the CIA to listen in : )

The toughest part was getting the gorilla tape residue off the plastic!
WD40 and then McGuires protectant, polished up nice and it don't smell like WD40, (It did for a while).
Now the only thing coming out the sub is music.

Big difference. Much easier to live with. They need a option in 'you-connect' settings for turning that junk off. Hemi don't need to help for sound, Gee whiz, that engine is one of the best sounding V8's.
went for a test drive, it was good. Small drone at 1700 rpm on a deceleration, like MDrums mentions, but it is short lived and it's not nearly as obnoxious.
I'm happy !

Has anyone tested your phone calls through the UConnect system with these mics unplugged?

I am wondering/thinking these might also be mics for phone calls to pick up your voice and for noise cancellation for phone call voice clarity.
