Deep Bass Noise

It’s been a sixth day of owning and driving mine, ANC has been bothering me since day one. So I’ve removed two mic’s from the rear rollbar but that didn’t help. I’m hoping that removing the remaining two mic’s in soundbar will disable ANC completely, because I’m annoyed by this deep bass during deceleration. Instead of canceling out noise, it’s making it worse.

Are you 100% positive the deep bass drone on de-acceleration is coming from the subwoofer due to ANC? The deep loud drone I hear is only when the exhaust valves are open and I am coming to a stop no throttle input window and SOT closed.

I plan on getting in the back while my wife drives so I can check out the subwoofer under these driving conditions. If I can access the subwoofer I will unplug it to make sure or visually see if the speaker cone is vibrating.

If this drone is caused by ANC then it sure is not tuned very well as it causes much more noise. But they if it is really working it will be interesting when the mics are unplugged what other noises I will pick up.

If two mics are still connected then ANC system is still active.
One test is to drive in both Performance and Quite exhaust modes and see if any difference?
For me, in my 2023, removing all 4 mics did help.

I would like to think otherwise but from reading through other posts regarding ANC, it has led me to believe that what others are experiencing is same. I’ve owned two other jeeps and this is new to me and want this radiating bass sound to be gone.

Later today, I'm going to pull the remaining 2 mic's from the sounder area and see how that plays out.
So, the bass is definitely way more noticeable on performance exhaust mode than off mode.

Okay, I couldn’t find any small open vented spots on where the sound bar where the remaining 2 mic’s could be located. However, I’ve found a spot by the handle right above where the seat belts are. Can someone confirm if the mic is under that cover piece?

I have a 21, the mic vent is just in front of the speaker in the sound bar. It’s the same vent as in the rear roll bar. Might be different on the newer models. If the little vents match then that’s where it should be

That is the location for the front mics.

I've removed all mics and unplugged the sub. Helped a little but the deep bass is still there on decel. It's the exhaust itself. Part of it is MDS but you get bass certain situations even when MDS is not on so some of it is pure exhaust. With this said, my 24 392 is way worse than the 21 392 I had in this regard.

Agree. I installed a Borla Atak, it's awful the drone is off the chart!

UPDATE

After having all four mic's removed, I went for a test drive and sadly, the annoying low bass sound is still present. I guess that's the norm of the stock exhaust sound which I need to get used to. Thanks for everyone's help and inputs. Now, I'm debating if I should revert and plug in mic's again to how they were. What is the downside of not having them connected? I don't think these mic's are being used for phone calls...

Hm... I wonder why it's worse on '24 yr model. Thanks for sharing this info.

Thank you for doing the work and reporting back. Very helpful. I don’t get to Texas but if you’re ever around the Tampa/St Pete area I owe ya a lunch or dinner!
I kinda thought this loud deep drone boom on decelerating off throttle was the exhaust more than a badly programmed noise canceling system.

I‘m thankful for my hearing deficit. I barely hear any drone, except when in MDS. I’m also just Happy I have a V8 and DGAF about noise. 🤣

Agreed…I’ve added a louder exhaust and 2 subs, I rarely have the top on, it’s not a Lexus.
All that being said, I did add Hot Heads liner and Dynamat around the Jeep but only to inhance the stereo with the top on. My hearing is shit from military operations, maybe I shouldn’t go in for those hearing aids next week.

I think your hearing aids are free for you. I’m a civvy. I have to pay. $2k for ears? Or $2k for mods? 🤔. If I buy ears, I’ll just hear people more. I’ll go for mods. 🤣🤣🤣

I do have the Borla ATAK. with the hard top on, I can barely hear it in quiet mode.

Can confirm. I have a 2024 392. I removed all 4 mics and still hear the deep bass on deceleration. It occurs in both auto and manual mode so it does not appear to have anything to do with cylinder deactivation. Only thing that works is throwing it into neutral when coming to a stop.

Just for reference, I have a 2023 20th and I have nothing like what you described. In fact I think this Jeep is much quieter than I expected. There is a very subtle off cycle exhaust noise when the thing goes into MDS but it's barely audible.

“Same” with my 20A👍
