Dealer Markups

Guys, I figured out what cash I had in my 392. With the add ons, TTL it is 85,800k. That's a pile of money, but if I were to sell, I don't want to lose in the deal. Not trying to be a hard ass or take advantage of anyone. Just the numbers. If someone needs it that badly we can talk. Otherwise it will stay in the garage.

Did u put a down-payment? I did to secure the terms and price. Mine is a local dealer and I give them business. They would lose more than $10k if they play me dirty like that.
Yes, I put down a down-payment. At the time Jeep had not yet published the MSRP so I told them I was ready to pay the MSRP, no matter what it was. They seemed to like my commitment. So I thought. But, then when the jeep arrived they now thought they could get a lot more, so they simply refunded my deposit and looked for another buyer.

Where are you located?

I ordered mine 4 months ago. It arrived and dealer now want 10k over sticker from me. I walked away. I’m sure he will sell it but I felt cheated.
That’s messed up. This is why I’m glad I work for an honest dealer that stands behind their customers and sticks up for them whenever possible. Shame on that dealer. This is why we always have the customer sign something saying that they agree to pay $x.xx for their car and sign the build sheet saying it is the correct car

I take it that there was No signed agreement?

I ended up ordering mine from a dealer in Texas. They are selling all their orders at MSRP. Mine was just moved to D status and has a VIN already - ordered it 10 days ago.

I've seen several dealers advertising 392's on Autotrader for less than MSRP; however once you contact them to work a deal - they either change the price or tell you that one was already sold and left on by mistake.

I ordered in Dec with $1k deposit. No mention of any mark up. I finally got a call from the dealer to pick up 3 days ago. When I got there, the dealer was charging $10K over MSRP. We had heated argument for over 20 minutes. I told him I’m not paying a dollar more than MSRP. He conceded.

Signing anything before the car arrives means nothing FYI lol...maybe just helps the customer sleep better? I could lose my job or die before the vehicle arrives and then not be able to do the original deal!

I've been to too many car dealers all over the northeast area...from VA to NY...they all the same, pretend to be loyal, but it's about the money...

It ain't personal, it's just business, right? Lol

I'm glad you stood your ground, that's exactly why I ran out and got one on the lot, I think all the dealers were sensing I needed this car and they could charge me whatever for it, but we all draw a line in the sand somewhere, right? Lol

Is everyone seeing that dealers are typically marking up the MSRP when trying to buy a stock 392 or deposit for one due into dealer in the next few months? How much?
hey Jpick392. When I heard about the 392 the first time, (about 5 weeks ago) I immediately called my contact who could get me one. He said they were commanding 25k over sticker in Houston. The dealers needed to ‘make their money’ while they could. I got mine for 15k over. So that dealer essentially handed me 10k. Dealers will ask for whatever they think they can get until the 392’s start collecting on their lots because they can’t sell them for over sticker. (Which is not likely anytime soon. They are just too much fun and there are a bunch of people out there willing to pay for fun)

Mecum had one go across the block, aftermarket tire and rims. Bid went on at 85k. Just FYI.

I wish I had your optimism. I am paying MSRP and after handing over 80k the only thing the dealer is handing me is the keys.

I have one AVAILABLE: I status (pending final inspection) sting Grey. I have this order in my name, and just want to get my $2K deposit back.
Anyone interested? I am just not ready for the $ increase in payment.
$5K over MSRP by the way. Hard top.
Austin, TX

Shit I got 3k off and then Jeep sends me a rebate coupon for $1000 so I got $4000 off MSRP. Already paid and picking up Monday!

Call Preston Rhoades in Taylor, TX. They are slightly over msrp, but not a crazy amount like most dealerships are right now. (423) 315-7405

I got it under MSRP
Call Progressive Jeep in Ohio
Ask for John Kerry, you can use my name for reference (Ghena)
Great communication from day 1
And it’s not to far from Toledo so shipping was quick ones it was built

I still have available allocation, as well.
