@Shoebox303 The Htich Pod is from Diode Dynamics, and the LED replacement for the reflectors are from Oracle Lighting.

Th JL only has one hook on the rear, but the mounting bolts/holes exist on both sides. I bought the closed loop tow points from Maximus. The one side replaces the factory tow hook, but the other just installs using the exiting holes and an extra bolt or two.

Seems like the same could be done for the tow hook mounted light.

Thanks, great to know! I plan to only use the hitch receiver for recovery purpose rather than the factory tow hook on the left side. I do like its matched bronze/gold color though.

The hitch might actually be less strong than the hook. The hitch is attached to the rear crossmember which is "lightly" welded to the side frame rails, plus you'd be pulling on the center of the span. Whereas, the hook is mounted to the side frame rail. It seems to me that the hook or a close loop point like I have might outperform a recovery point based on the hitch. IMHO FWIW

Maybe you don't care, and that's OK. As always, you do you... I'm just pointing that out, and I'm just some jack wagon on the internet.

SSC1.... for whatever reason the brake light function did not thrill me, so I went with just the white backup light.

Today I came across this tail lights upgrade by Form Lights: https://www.formlights.com/2018-2023-jeep-jl-wrangler-led-tail-lights-pair.html

I became excited mainly due to their dual reverse lights. The other fancy features are nice too. It’ll be great solution to solve the backup lighting issue.

I did check some Amazon reviews and it seems the waterproofing seal is not good.

Hi,

I just joined the forum. I purchased a 392 last Thursday and realized how bad the reverse camera was as soon as it got dark. I have the DD reverse kit on my TRX and the backup camera is great. I immediately ordered the DD hitch lights and hopefully they arrive on Tuesday. My 2024 Rubicon X had an awesome rear camera at night.

Welcome! This is one thing I don’t really understand. Initially I had thought it was due to the backup camera, but it was very clear when the lighting is good. And mine doesn’t have the front off-road camera. Then I focused on searching for a solution to increase the amount of reverse light.

According to your feedback, the 24MY has either better camera or lighting or maybe both.

I have no idea what the issue is and the X has front and rear camera and is perfect

When the lighting is NOT good (stock backup lighting... even with the LED upgrade), it sucks.

Most cheap Chinesium cameras have better low light performance.

I added the Diode Dynamics hitch light, but I would much rather have a camera that actually worked in dark conditions.

It brothers me since last year, especially in winter time. With the motion lighting activated in my driveway, the camera still sucks when I back all the way from main road to driveway then into a single door garage. Oh man, years ago without the back up camera, how did I get by…

I’d hope if it turns out to be the camera, we can just upgrade to the 24 camera if possible.

Just installed the Diode Dynamics hitch light. I did not get the more expensive option that includes flashing 4th brake light. Of course right after I installed it I realized I could have modified the harness to make the running light the 4th brake light. Super easy to install so I will probably take it off to modify the harness.

I had two of them in my ADD rear bumper and wired them so they were automatic in reverse or I could turn them on via an Aux switch.
