Back up camera gains at night

As I recall and as it appears to show here there are no threaded inserts in the passenger side as there is on the drivers.
Maximus provided a simple plate with nuts welded on it for this.... Low tech, but it works fine.

Yeah, I know there are options. I just wanted to point that out to someone who is designing a product for a vehicle they don't quite have access to.

Any chance for closed loop attachment points with smoothed radiuses for use with soft shackles? I for one, dislike the open hooks as the shackle/strap/whatever can just fall off.
That is exactly what I was going to ask.

@Shoebox303 The Htich Pod is from Diode Dynamics, and the LED replacement for the reflectors are from Oracle Lighting.

I installed and agree with others that it is better - noticeably better - but still not nearly as good as any other backup camera i have seen - looking forward to an even better solution (as noted in previous posts).

I installed the Diode Dynamics hitch pod only.

We sell the hitch mount lights and they play nicely with the other reverse light kits we have done. Below is our TRX with the hitch mount and our reverse light kit. It made a huge difference. We will make replacement tow hooks with a light mount built in to the hook and bracket so everything matches on both sides.

Just came across these brackets in the Bronco world. Something @Shifts And Grins Fab may consider since I can’t find similar products in the JL world. The closest one is the Mopar 3rd brake light relocation bracket which can be repurposed as a light mounting bracket.

One downside of such design is changing the spare tire.

We got you. It is still very easy to change/ remove and install the spare. Adds a ton of usable light as well. I'll add that to the list of things to do. A buddy is going to loan me his JL to get the ball rolling on some options for you all.

I ditched the DD hitch light which was really anemic and used that supplied harness to mount 2 DD SS2 lights, very happy with the result.
The hitch mount by itself will never compare to two lights especially when those two lights are twice or more the size of the hitch mount light. That being said, I am very happy with the light the hitch mount added on our TRX and our Bronco when paired with a proper reverse light kit. You all have me wanting to add a 392 to our stable now. Bad influences!!!!

With a splitter harness you can add the hitch mount back for even more light and more coverage. Because ALL OF THE LIGHTS is more gooder. :ROFLMAO:

I’ve had 99 cent Harbor Freight flashlights that put out more light than the DD hitch light…..

Looks like you have the amber lights instead of the white? How do they performance as backup lighting compared to white?

Perhaps there was a problem with your light then. We have had them on multiple vehicles now and have been very happy with them. We have sold 100s of them and received great feedback from our customers as well. I'm glad you like your new setup though. For comparison, the hitch mount light is a single SSC1 or C1R light that puts out 1030 lumens of measured output. The SSC2 you have now put out 871 lumens for sport or 1,988 Lumens of measured output for pro. That is for each light so multiply that by 2. Again there is no comparison of 2 SSC2 lights vs 1 SSC1 light. I do prefer the fill the hitchount light gives in the center when paired with a proper reverse light kit.

Spoke with DD, unfortunately the tabs were clipped otherwise I would have sent it back. But clearly this particular light was terrible. One possible explanation could be defective but the light output was essentially useless.

That is definitely not my experience with them so I'd venture to say there may be a problem with that light or wiring.
