AWE Exhaust Install and Sound Clips for 392

Folks who have installed the AWE exhaust, has anyone had any issues/complaints so far? I've been wanting to get the kit ever since it's released back in December. Feel like it's about time but wanted to hear from yall.
Still absolutely loving mine! My only complaint is when my wife decides to drive it to work and leaves at 6am… when she fires it up in the garage it startles me awake 😂😂😂

Mine is still sitting in the garage until spring but several people have asked me to start it so they could hear it. So no complaints but everyone says it sounds sweet.

I can totally relate. My wife works at hospital and she leaves at 5:30 on those early shift days.

Another member told it took him and his dad 5 hours to install. I’m the only labor in the household, not sure if I’ll be a full day work. How was your install?

I happened to watch the cop TV show "OP Live" this weekend. Cops stopped a car with loud exhaust and stated that it is illegal to modify a new exhaust system in any way.
I remember all of the paperwork I recently signed when I purchase my 23' 392, agreeing that I would not modify the exhaust in any way. Seemed to be a big deal.

So is installing an aftermarket exhaust system to our 392's technically illegal, even if we maintain the cat converters? Some do say Offroad Use Only. It would be modified.

Maybe if all states adopt Cali’s silly laws. Not a problem here in Florida.

OP Live tv show...cops were in Daytona, FL?
Told the guy he pulled over that modifying a new vehicles exhaust, in any way, is illegal?
Plus, all the paperwork I had to sign at point of purchase, here in FL, has me wondering?

Can't say what was up for that but Daytona has been making money off events in that area for years now imo. I'm sure they are only enforcing on people who are being a nuisance and showing off.

The guy had a new car, told the cop he had just unbolted the rear exhaust and could bolt it back together. Car wasn't that loud and the cop let him go with no ticket.
After seeing that, I was just wondering what the law is currently?
I like the idea of an AWE exhaust system with long tube headers. I'd still maintain cat converters.

This is hilarious, like cops have the time and nothing better to do than pull you over for a loud exhaust. :ROFLMAO: Good one.

Sorry I missed your post.
it took me about an hour maybe two by myself. Did it with the Jeep on the ground, no lift. It is a tight fit and I would definitely invest in one of those tools that push the exhaust hangers out of the rubber mounts. I used plumbers pliers (Chanel locks) they work but definitely not ideal.

Thanks for the info! I tend to do things slowly and try to enjoy the process.

AWE uses regular round stock for the exhaust hangers and they ship two locking collars that clamp onto the mounting rods to secure them from sliding out of the rubber mounts. 4 hangers in total but only two locking collars. My OCD kicked in and I’m sure that the rear hangers could not slide out of the rubber mount but I wanted to be sure. I found steel locking collars on Amazon that use two screws and are made in the US. I bought 4 and replaced the two original so they would all be the same.

Tight squeeze but you can reach between the pipes and muffler to get the locking collars on. Worth while upgrade to the AWE system for piece of mind.

My OCD will do the same lol

For anyone who installed this, do you run the vacuum hoses over or under the muffler hanger brackets before you zip tie them. I couldn’t tell so I ran them under.

You'd be incorrect on that. Your state, and even Texas, have laws on exhausts.
This is your state's statute.
Every motor vehicle shall at all times be equipped with an exhaust system in good working order and in constant operation, including muffler, manifold pipe, and tailpiping to prevent excessive or unusual noise. In no event shall an exhaust system allow noise at a level which exceeds a maximum decibel level to be established by regulation of the Department of Environmental Protection as provided in s. 403.061(11) in cooperation with the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. No person shall use a muffler cutout, bypass or similar device upon a vehicle on a highway.
(2) The engine and power mechanism of every motor vehicle shall be so equipped and adjusted as to prevent the escape of excessive fumes or smoke.
(3) A violation of this section is a noncriminal traffic infraction, punishable as a nonmoving violation as provided in chapter 318.

Here in Commie CA- we've modified the exhaust on every vehicle we've owned. In 20 years we've never been cited. We do however, keep the stock exhaust. If there is ever a problem we can throw it on. It's never come up at a Smog Test either.
Also, dealers have never so much as questioned the exhaust. (To the person that is concerned about it)
