392 without XR package

I told myself to stay outta this thread but…
XR package gets you:
mopar steel painted shocks vs Fox stainless steel (stock).
17x8 instead of 17x7.5 rims
spare relocation bracket vs nothing. 35’s fit both, 37s fit relocated bracket
tailgate reinforcement vs nothing.
315 vs 285 70/17 tires.
4.56 gearing vs 3.73 gearing
1” fender flare lip vs regular flares

$4k is a bit for that. If all you want is 35s, XR on a 392 is not worth $4k. IMHO.

I went with the non-XR for my 11/21 order but all this XR talk certainly got me considering to add it to the order. I ultimately decided against it because I didn’t want my 392 to look like every other XR out there. Also didn’t want to delay delivery and I knew I didn’t want to keep the tires, rims and fender extensions. I have new rims and 35’s M/Ts sitting in the garage along with the tailgate reinforcement and the teraflex relocation mount. If I feel the need to re gear to 4.56, I don’t mind doing so out of warranty.
Now I just want to stop waiting for my 392, PLEASE! :)

I agree, I think it totally depends on your use.

I plan on using mine as a daily driver and for normal on street/freeway use the 4.56 gear is a wee bit low. IMHO I think for a daily driver 35's is about perfect and they fit nicely on the regular 392 from the factory. And finally for me the loss of the FOX Shocks with factory setup made the regular 392 decision easy. Different strokes for different folks, but for my needs the regular 392 fits. I spent the $4k on half doors 🤑

@Kseelow 35s will fit on the tailgate without relo. Also my 35s are the same weight as stock set up. So not sure the reinforcement is needed either…

You’re right. I wasn’t sure if it would strain the tailgate overtime and wanted to be set for 37s if I decide to go that route in the future. I went with Toyo MTs that are a bit heavier than stock as well.

Going XR because I'd like to keep the jeep relatively stock for the first couple years, and I love the look of that package right out of the box. Coming from 2010 JK where I've broken and replaced just about every part on it, I'm kind of excited to just lean on the factory warranty and make careful plans for mods down the road.
