392 or G63

My wife got the GLE53 Coupe because she didn't need the 3rd row anymore either. It's a nice car, but it's not for me. Little hard for me to get in and out of and the ride is a little rough. Jeep is great for around town but starts to loose its appeal the further you go :p

I actually thought I came up with a great idea. Sell her car and then pick up the GLS63 & 392. I could tell she almost went for it. Then she paused . . . "no, I want the G Wagon!" It's one of those things where I know I could have probably talked her into it but then I know I would continue to hear it for a long time to come how I always get what I want

Bro, for many of us wives married to ‘car guys’— having a chance at owning a gwagon is like you guys getting a Ferrari or Lamborghini. I know you guys are like ‘everyone has a gwagon’ and you are correct —they aren’t rare at all… but like I’m the only person I know with one. There is another lady in the neighborhood who drives one, but it’s older and I don’t know her, only her car, lol.

I’m just saying, I understand the whole ‘my wife is obnoxious’ thing— but I’m telling you that if she really wants a G…nothing is going to scratch that itch but a G, lol.

(disclaimer: the letter before z not working on this keyboard)

Ha! Nah, m wife is not obnoxious at all. She puts up with a lot with me ;)

Funn thing is with all these vehicles I'm considering the Jeep would actually be the most expensive option -- after all mods. Something is definitely wrong with that.

Drove the Ca enne Turbo today. Nice ride. So understated in appearance. Looks wise it just doesn't wow me. Quick, agile, responsive. Salesman brought out a GLS63 just for immediate comparison. So much more emotion from it.

There's a 392 in the Phoenix area I ma fl out to next week to test drive. It's already built out the wa I like so should be a good experience.

So you’ve driven the G63, the Cayenne, the GLS and now are trying the 392? Any others on the list?

Clearly you are looking at a lot of options…….have you test drove any EV yet? I was the world’s biggest doubter until I did and was hooked. The acceleration these things produce is intoxicating. Now I love having a beastly 392 and an EV in my stable. Best of both worlds.

Save up for a new keyboard that has working "Y"s. (Just kidding!) There are a lot of good vehicles out there, and some with horrible reliability. Had a great day yesterday with my sister and her fiancé. He loves his H2 Hummer, but is looking for something that speaks to him to get something new as well. Like you, options are wide open. He's had V12 S class, 3, 5, & 7 Series BMW, Hummers, and all sorts of other classic and modern car (Owns about 30 vehicles currently). Keep testing until you find something that tickles your fancy that you are aware of any common issues and your homework on it is complete.

I’m with you on that. We have double 392’s in the garage but that EV is where it’s at for most of my day to day errands. The speed, silence, acceleration and…not gassing that beast up ever 4 damn days is amazing.

Really can't think of anything else.

Hummer? nah I test drove a couple Mercedes EV's a couple years ago at the salesman's urging. Cool gadgets but I didn't feel it. Not ready to make that commitment anyway.

Yeah, but you aren't going very far in that EV. I asked about it yesterday at the dealership after hearing your previous comments. Salesman said 200 miles. Ouch. The 63 may be the only way to go as I heard they are discontinuing the 550 V8 -- but still calling it the 550.

200 miles is GENEROUS. My test (with A/C and cabin control) had me at about 175 miles per charge.

You’re correct on the 550 V8 situation.

Do me a solid, bro. Should you decide to get a G63– get something other than black! I’ve had two black ones, a red one and a yellow one— and the difference in the head turns between the two colors and the black ones is real. In Austin there are very very few colored wagons. Everything is black/white/silver.

Drove a couple 911 Carrera's today. Whoah! That was another level of fun. The Cayenne Turbo's were faster but man, what a thrill ride! I have a neighbor in my industrial center that just uses his warehouse for his cars. Makes a lot of sense

it’s a long dark road, lol

If I were in the market for another off-road vehicle, the Unimog might be it. More rare than the G, no negative stereotypes, and no need to lift or modify it.
