392 jealousy?

This 1000%. Choose your crowd depending on your activities.

Similar to others, I busted my azz for many years (still do & about to turn 50) and have been lucky to make good professional choices. My wife & choose not to have any kids, but we do live in a pretty high-end neighborhood and enjoy our lives with vacations & nice things. This doesn't mean we're not cool people & deserve to act like d$cks that are everywhere. But over the years, I've definitely noticed that my "golf bros" are a completely different crowd than my blue-collar pals.

I'm a drummer in an area coverband and have tons of local & non-local musician friends. A lot of these people barely scrape by (especially living in the DC area where we live), so I try to avoid any convos about money. It might be awkward for them if my 392 is parked next to their 15y/o Honda since it doesn't usually draw a lot of parallels as far as lifestyles...but I'm not apologizing for my hard work & mindset. And I happen to love my Jeep...maybe they don't care about their Honda (or cars in general) and that's cool too. I can't control others jealous insecurities, but I can decide to be a cool person to anyone I meet...provided they're the same towards me.
Rock on

I have noticed that a lot of people in the local Jeep clubs seem a little jealous that I wheel a 392. I have heard comments like "if I was rich, I could get that too", "some people don't have your money and they don't think they are better than everyone else" and several similar comments. We are not like that at all. We both work hard for our money(or used to), are DINKS and spend our money on what we enjoy. I will help anyone with anything they need and I go out of my way to be down to earth, friendly and humble. I also try to talk to each person about there Jeeps and tell them how awesome they are.

It seemed better before I had the 392 with a full built. Not one person said a word about it or looked at it the day I showed up with the build and the "leader" of the club came over to me and stated 37s and a lift doesn't make you a better driver. I just said that I know that but it is something I wanted and I get better by wheeling with you.

I never experienced this in my TRX or AMG clubs. Is it my imagination or has anyone else experienced this?
This is why all of my trail buddies are Toyota drivers. They know their place! Hahaha. All kidding aside, I notice that I don't get as many waves when I'm in the 392. I've never been "ducked" but in the 4xe I was almost weekly. I experienced this with my local car scene too. When I had my Evo X I was cool. But when I bought a C7 Z51 3lt to advance my Driving with the SCCA and NASA I was almost immediately a tool. I'm the same goof 🤪 just different car. SMH this is why I'm often aloof.

Yep, when I had my AMGs I didn't give a crap what anyone thought.

Had 2 392's. Not my style. Sold both, currently 2 door Rubicon with a 6 speed running 35's. Jealousy? Not this guy.

Exactly. I just have this thing about 4 door jeeps. Nothing wrong with the concept, but old school when it comes to Wranglers. I have a Tahoe Z71 if I need 4 doors. Just me and my oddities I fear.

Don't feel guilty for your success and Gods blessings.

My TJ was 2 doors and with a dog and a couple of saddles it was just too small.

Loved my LJ I could easily pick a line and stay on it the Jlu is just different wider longer I just need some more time in the saddle. I like the extra space and extra 280 ponies

As I have said in the past, buy what makes sense to you and makes you smile in the garage. If a Pumpkin 392 ventured into my life, it would most likely end up sitting next to the 2 door. Just because I like orange!

“Thanks…..and I paid cash”

That will rile up the thousand-aire in debt to their eye-balls crowd…
I love to say that too! Guy I know said, "Do you know what is best part is about my Jeep is?.....Its paid off"! I said, "Haha, so is my 392"! Funniest reaction I have seen so far!

Country boys for the win!

I went wheeling with a small group led by the ultimate country boy this weekend. He was a very skilled driver and great spotter. The rock we were on were so sharp that they hurt my feet in walking trails. This guy never even put on shoes and he was walking through the rocks all day long. He also cooked us up some good lunch, on the trailer and jumped right in to help some mechanical issues on some of the Jeeps. It was the ultimate day of wheeling 🙃

I run an open platform off road group and while meeting up to hit a trail, a 392 came by and made some derogatory pokes about a couple of rigs. I think most won't care, and appreciate what each rig is, but there are always some that do.

Hopefully it wasn’t one of our members

Yeah I wouldn't know, just know that I invited the couple to come along as we were hitting a mild technical trail and he wasn't having it. Was pretty obvious that it wouldn't see the dirt. Don't mind people that don't want to hit the dirt, but don't look down on others that do thinking you could do better "if you did".

I came up with a new response that seems perfect. They say "must be nice to have the money for a Jeep like that". I say "not as nice as having a 4:1 transfer case and 500 less lbs since we are all trying to climb the same rock". It tends to just get everyone laughing.
