37’s on stock Xtreme Recon

Hi. So I just installed the 37/12.50/17 Nitto Recon Grapplers. Added a 2 inch bump in the rear. I did notice the engine would stay in gear a bit longer. I installed the Tazer mini and it cleared that. I actually think it may run better. I have the XR with the 4.56 gears.
same observations, and tazer fixed it via the wheel size setting. I think it runs better than the XR 35's as well, and I have the same gears as you too. Just another affirmation of your observations. Added a pedal monster tool recently and off the line and around town it's glorious the way the car feels now. All in, much quicker over the road and around town, and easier to attack corners or uneven terrain with more confidence and stability. Braking is the only compromise I've noticed so far, but marginal... barring any (knock on wood) emergency stops where inches can matter.

Any of you guys with 37's on the stock XR wheels have any issues with the wheel rings and installers? Going to discount tire tomorrow for my 37's and I'm wondering if I should remove the rings before going in...
The beauty rings don’t need to be removed to change the tires. My shop didn’t remove mine when they changed my tires.

Sir I'm in Houston I'm afraid....
I knew you were a Texan…. Just wondered if you had travelled to the land of Ice and Snow on those Killer shoes. Just trying to find a good grip tire for the wet stuff…be it liquid or the frozen type. 🤙

on the upside, the Recon Grapplers have not melted yet.

I swear I had found a review of the Recon's on YT where they had them in the snow and liked them. It's been too long to re-find.

Has anyone put 37s on stock wheels on a 392? Rubbing?
Answer is no I haven’t but there just is not enough space on those stock wheels to keep them from rubbing at full articulation you need 4.5 lnches of backspace. Note for the street you’ll be fine but not for serious off road. For trail raiting of 1-5 . 1 being flat smooth dirt road 5 being expect body damage and plan on using your winch. You will rub on a 3- 3.5 trail.that has been my experience..

appreciate this.... do you find 2.5" spacers help with this some?

2.5 inches of spacer is a lot in my opinion. Soon I will be installing my 1.5 inch spacers.

Did you use the stock wheels, 37 ko2’s and a 2” bump block in the back ? Driving Line did a video with that combo and at full flex did not need a wheel spacer. But he had a different brand 37

I love the XR wheels: 17x8, +12mm offset. I've seen folks posted that some tire installers don't really care about the min rim being 8" on the XR wheels.

I'm in PA, daily driver, we can have some bad winter snow days that's why I don't consider those tires that are not 3PMSF rated. Only do easy and mild off-road trails maybe only once or twice a year. I don't like the raise white lettering. I've narrowed down my options to the following, any thoughts or other recommended brands?

The Toyo Open Country AT3 seems to be a very nice balance in terms of load range, weight, and it also approves the 8" min rim. I don't find many JL owners use them though.

The Falken Wildpeak A/T3W has lots good reviews too, I don't really mind it's made in Thailand.

The BFG KO2 has a C load range, which surprised me a bit. I can't find much info on the 37" KO3, which is a new design.

I just got the MT Baja Boss AT's installed on my jeep this morning. Stuck with the OEM XR wheels, Discount Tire didn't have any issues mounting 37's to them. I did remove the beauty rings before going in just to avoid any issues. Opted for these tires this go around for being the truest to size and having the 3 peak rating, as well as good reviews in general. They look great, very meaty with an aggressive sidewall pattern. Definitely heavy though if that's a concern!

I've ran the Toyo AT3's before, it's a good, quiet tire but lacks a little in the looks department on our rigs, but that's purely subjective.

It seems to me it's easier to find load range C in 37 than 35 inch tires.

The Open Country AT3 is also an appealing tire to me.

Great to know! Honestly I really don’t care too much about the extra weight each tire, might use some extra elbow grease when I do tire rotations. I suppose the Mopar tire rack reinforcement bracket is still fine?

I have 37s on stock wheels stock suspension. No issues, only rubbing is when my Jeep was loaded down with camp gear, water, ect. I do have an XR so better off set wheels and a little more lift. non XR will have issues.

It's fine for the moment, and I don't expect any issues with on-road use. I've read conflicting reports on the longevity with offroading, so I'll probably err on the side of caution and pick up one of the kits that actually reinforces the hinges before long.

I’d imagine you’ll be totally fine. Especially if you don’t have tailgate table mounted inside which is extra weight. Not sure about carrying water/fuel rotopax on the spare tire.
