1st Dealer Oil Change + Fender Scratched Up 🤬

I didnt even catch that the first time I read all of this but yes, "under no circumstances beyond 6 months...."

I asked the dealership this when I was not able to drive it for 3 months, waiting for the oil filter adapter. They were not concerned. They did say to get it changed before June of this year. Giving me the impression that they were more concerned about the 1 year mark. I normally do all, if not most of my own work. Especially oil changes.

I doubt the computer tracks when you "reset" the oil life percentage. How would they know otherwise if you've changed it in between ones "tracked" by the dealership.

I'm sorry to see this. Any time I have to take any vehicle to the dealership, I am nervous. Most of the time it's fine but I've had several issues over the years. They just don't care for vehicles the same way an owner would. You've got a 21 year old kid working for $17/hr... He's not thinking about your $100,000 investment. He just wants to get it done quick so he can log back into TikTok. There are good, conscious mechanics out there but they're not typically the ones doing oil changes. It's a bummer.

You can add maintenance items in the Jeep app and it tracks it the same as the dealership putting in an entry. That way they can see when you change the oil or wipers or whatever else yourself.

I did not know that. I'll have to try that in the app. I am definitely leery about taking it back someday for the 2nd oil change. I may skip it, not sure yet. I already bought oil for when I start doing my own oil changes again.

Okay, okay, I know it's only a "Jeep Wrangler" ($98k albeit), and yes it might see some wear and tear. BUT, getting our first free oil change about 3,400 miles (almost a year of ownership) and they must have placed the case of oil on the driver's front fender and scratched it up. I saw it right away when I jumped out of the Jeep. SMH!!

We really love the Bikini Pearl coat, such a fun color, but putting pinstripes on it out on a trail with a wild story is my job.

So, its back at the dealership to buff it out, I hope. Plus, I need the uConnect software updated from Build Number: FCA-MY24.U29.18-PROD to U33.43-PROD. Not sure why the OTA didn't work, but oh well.

My first, and last, dealer oil change was crazy. The 16 year old girl at the dealership that did my oil change, forgot a small detail, tighten the oil pan plug! Next morning there was a giant puddle of oil under the Jeep. I now do my oil changes myself, which isn what I requested to do, but, the dealership said it would void my warranty. I would be really mad about those scratches. These mechanics just don't respect vehicles in for service. I've had horrendous luck with grease on everything, scratches, and even a dent.

I feel your pain. I took my 392 in for a warranty battery and they raised the lift with my hood open and hit a shop light. Dented the hood. The dent has been removed 95% and now the paint needs to be fixed. The dealership is going to pay for the paint work. Funny thing is they never mentioned that it happens I noticed it as soon as I got home. In your case if you buy a touch up bottle of clear coat you could fill the crack and buff down the excess paint so you won’t have to thin out your clear coat. Or fill it with wax and hide it. The pictures below show the damage before any repair.

Wow, that totally sucks too! Just reinforces why I prefer to do most of my own work. I just don't trust the shops will do it right and not break more things in the process.

Yes, your dealer is a scumbag liar.....doing your own does not void warranty (and dealers wonder why we do not just their bullshit) Just document your work and keep receipts of the oil/supplies you buy with dates of purchase. I take time stamped photos of my work just to be safe.
