Jeep 392 Custom Plates

Let’s get a bit creative beyond the obvious ‘392’ ;-)

For Seinfeld aficionados…

In Arizona you can use a legacy 1980s/1990s maroon plate if you register the contents as a vanity plate. After months of searching I finally found a maroon plate with 392 was the digits. Really happy with the look.

Can you use the 70's through early 80's yellow with green letters as well. And do you have a link to the site telling how to register (I can't find it).

There's not much out there. I know more by experience. I found a maroon "ACURA" plate on Ebay and bought it for a friend who happened to have "ACURA" registered on with a newer plate. He took the maroon plate to MVD and they told him he could use it as long as he had it registered as a customized plate.

Also found this on Wikipedia, with reference to the maroon plates: "Still currently revalidated."

Which makes sense since you still see 1-2 a day here, even on newer cars.

As far as older plates, I found this form to register an antique plate with a similar year car:

If you find one (maroon 392), let me know, would be fun to have 2 of them around here.

Stole this from someone else on a different group...

I had this on several Jeeps and now on my 392….BCHBUGE, I live near the beach.

Does this oblong plastic piece on the front of the stock front bumper just pull out without any tools? I take it this has to be removed to mount a plate bracket. Thanks

It does pop out but you would probably want to use a plastic/nylon trim panel tool help to avoid scratching the paint on the bumper. As far as a license plate bracket goes, I would check with your dealer's parts department to see what they have to fill that need. Usually, a fairlead for the winch rope/cable would occupy that space.

I believe those small divets in it are for screw holes for the plate bracket. If your state requires it the dealer should have provided you one. (Although mine didnt come with one either)

Just looked at mine, the plate bracket is screwed to that plate.
Ah ok, thanks. I do have a plate bracket but thought that trim piece had to be removed first. I was wrong so thanks again for the info.

Florida does not require a front plate but mine came with one anyway.

I want to do my plate in Microsoft paint..just to make it funny. But not sure if that's allowed (like with the paint background and icons)
