I had a 74 CJ-5 that had a cammed up 304 in it that I used to take to Pismo Beach. Several of us had them. One In particular got built into a sand dragster- the Nasty Nash. https://www.4-the-love-of-jeeps.com/nasty-nash-hensonkeith-racing-jeep.html. Then life happened and I sold the CJ-5, the one car I always regretted selling.
Fast forward about 25 years and we were living in western Colorado- some friends invited us along to EJS- they were trail leaders on Big Saturday. Two months later I had a stock 2010 Rubicon JKU. I was back in, full send.
I traded that in 2022 for a 4xe which left me on the side of the road at about 6,000 miles. Long story short I turned it in on the lemon law and bought something a little more battle tested- a single cam, push rod V8. I found a 22 392 with 8k miles on it. I have the sound of my old CJ, the acceleration of my old Corvette, and the timeless beauty of a Jeep. And so far I haven’t been left on the side of the road.
