So today I got the dreaded service 4 WD drive light. This is the second time it happened.
The difference is the first time, 3+ months ago , it was in my drive way while reversing to my parking spot which proved to be a struggle.. turned off the car and went to sleep, next morning everything good.
Today it happened when stopped at traffic light. Drove off almost normal. Then had the chance to stop at gas station turned off and back on. The light came back. Then turned off for while longer. Then the light went off. But the wheels are binding when turning into a curb and backing off is hard. Drove home and tried to switch the offroad plus but the ESC did not switch off like it it should normally do.
Went home and disconnected the battery for about an hour. Then test drove it and the problem is the same, without the dashboard light.
Anyone experienced the same? Is my T-case broken. The car has 39000 km only!! And barely offload, two dry easy drive in the sand, it is a pavement queen ….

Could just be the motor on the T Case. There’s a bunch of threads on the forum. There’s also a TSB for a software update. I’ll dig it up and post it on here

Thanks for the help. Booked an appointment at the dealer to check it out today.

So got it back from service, they checked and rectified the problem by simply flashing TCM as per TSB INSTRUCTION for error code C140E-00. They said motor was fine and so was everything else even oil was good.

If you’re handy swap the fluid yourself. I just wouldn’t take their word that it’s fine. New fresh fluid isn’t gonna hurt anything.

If there was binding, I’d change the fluid. If your case fails in the future, it’s unlikely they’ll say, “we should have changed the fluid.”
