Selling my '22 AEV370 with ~650 miles

Ok, since you are so smart let me let you in on a little secret jack.

According to the Nationwide database dealers and DMV's use the vehicle does not exist, according to the manufacturer of the vehicle the vehicle does not exist.

Being an AEV customer since 2008 I know the little tricks they use. Your Jeep is not $78,035 its $80,430. Aev and the selling dealer buy the vehicles at a discount and they conveniently screw up one letter or number in the vin so you cant find your window sticker and therefore trust their new vin.

so the difference of $2,395 is buried in the final numbers of the 102, 24, and 78, which is really 80 and 22 but so they can get paid 24k instead of 22k for the "AEV extras" that are worth 50% at best they do it this way. The dealer can discount his vehicle if he wants but he cant discount the AEV extras and they get paid 100% of their extras.

So now go back and look at your Vin on the AEV build sheet, and the one POSTED IN POST #14 and then compare it to your title and your window sticker.

See something strange?

Of course not, they got you.

THE REAL VIN HAS AN N BEFORE THE W AS EVIDENCED BY THE AZ TITLE AND THE WINDOW STICKER. THE VIN IN THE FIRST POST ON THE BUILD SHEET AND THE ONE IN THE THREAD HAS AN M BEFORE THE W.

You should definitely post that Jeep on the AEV forum and since I am a regular over there and know everyone I will be nice and even without an apology not kill your sale.
Oh wow that’s crazy, they are different. MW VINs are for the 2021 model year and NW for 2022. Looks like they put the year before on the AEV sticker which has the lower MSRP. That seems very illegal. Anyone else with AEV builds have a similar disparity in the VIN?

Lol, “kill the sale”.

Wouldn’t it only be illegal if they changed the vin on the registration or the vehicle?

If AEV was changing VIN numbers so that according to the manufacturer the vehicle didn’t exist, I’m pretty sure the AEV people would all be in jail, and not one person who owned an AEV would be getting their vehicle serviced under warranty.

I had a 2021 Prospector XL, all vins matched.

Yeah true. Could have just been a typo error when someone at AEV was entering it in their system.

That would be my guess. Occam’s razor. Certainly a call to Miles at Dan Cummins or Andrew at AEV would clear this up.

Or, we could actually believe that AEV is a criminal enterprise that for decades has been defrauding people of money by selling them “invisible” vehicles that don’t actually exist in any known system of vehicle tracking. And this forum thread has somehow uncovered all of it. Lol.

For what it’s worth, my only interest in this thread is that I’m the original person who ordered the vehicle from Dan Cummins, and the OP was a great person to deal with in transferring my order.

Since you have a vast knowledge of the "tricks" used by AEV you should most definitely take some of that abundant free time you have and contact the Michigan Attorney General with all of your 'findings' regarding the commonplace practice by this Michigan based company of fleecing its customers. I am certain you will win the "Kojak of the Year" Award.

BTW...what any of this has to do with the sale of my vehicle...well...I aint that smart.

I wanted to see if the Jeep had the 4.56 gears already and they were trying to charge again for them. I have seen that happen which I am sure you are not surprised about now. I buy the 8 year 125k bumper to bumper extended warranties and one issue I would be concerned about would be the fact that they did the gears and it was not done on the assembly line. I am going to stop there as I dont want to effect your sale. The extended warranty will not cover AEV's work, the 3/36 is covered by AEV at an AEV authorized warranty dealer.

Just to clarify one point here: the warranty work can be done by any shop that AEV and the owner want to work with, it doesn't need to be in AEV's authorized dealer network. In my case, the dealership where I bought my PXL was not good at working on my truck, so I reached out to AEV and asked if my local independent shop could perform the work and have it covered under warranty - AEV had no problem with that, in fact they were glad to have the work performed by a knowledgable shop. As it was explained to me, a lot of AEV owners live a long way from an AEV dealer, so AEV covers the work done at all types of shops. Not trying to be an ass here, just clarifying that important point as that could dissuade potential buyers who don't live near an AEV dealer.

That really was a bunch of posts...and a round about way...to say you don't want to buy my car because an extended warranty won't cover the AEV installed 4.56 gears. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

and in the meantime shared false and potentially defamatory information about AEV...
It really is surprising...given the fraud/overbilling & lack of extended warranty coverage...the poster has owned AEV products since 2008. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

The poster should never, ever buy a Ferrari...you might as well be dealing with the Soprano family when it comes to warranty coverage and overbilling. :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

BTW don't let this discourage you from posting in the AEV forum. If he posts those kinds of allegations over there, it won't go well with all of the actual AEV owners.

I intend to this weekend...just haven't had time to yet.

As stated in my first post, I really am not looking to make $$$ on this vehicle. I simply have too many cars currently and...will soon...receive my '95 Range Rover Classic back from Congleton Service in Vermont after an extensive refurbishment that returns the vehicle to better-then-new condition. Simply too many cars with overlapping purposes.

I really enjoy the vehicle...and will be sad to see it go. Jeep, IMO, really hit it out of the park with the build and, while I never off-roaded the Jeep, the AEV equipment, at the very least, looks really cool.

If he gives you any crap on the AEV forum, let me know and I'll shoot a text to one of the several people I personally know that actually work for AEV to bring down the ban hammer on him.

That Defender is a real POS, I just gotta say. Had two of them, a 90 and a 110. They both were going through the lemon law process while at the same time used car prices were going crazy. Ended up selling them both to Carmax at a ridiculous profit, and received some compensation for both vehicles from Land Rover. You’ll be sorry, just letting you know! They were both constantly at the dealer for some issue. It’s a shame.
May I assume you are referring to the latest model Defenders?

I assumed Barstollsman1127 was referring to the new Defenders because he stated Land Rover compensated him for both of his “troubled” Defenders. I don’t know why Land Rover would reimburse an owner of an 80’s model East Coast Defender.
