power side steps

A buddy of mine has the Rolling Big Power (RBP) Power Steps and it looks very close to stock. I like the look of them and they are super sturdy to use. I'm not sure if anyone has used these on the rocks and can speak for their capability there?

I did the power drain calculations, 5 weeks and your battery is gone.
I would have to agree on that, parked my jeep over the winter and within the first 5-6 weeks of cold weather without starting the battery was flat. I got it in a warm garage got a full charge on the battery and it was flat again within another 6 weeks, still indoors. I finally realized it was the steps and disconnected the ground on the steps and it sat for roughly the last 6-7 weeks of winter with no issues.

This is good info for sure. @redbeard719 mentioned a quick disconnect at the battery source connection. Is that included with the Gen 3 package?

I didn’t get the disconnect but it has been a year since I ordered mine, they probably added it the day after I got mine. 🤣 not a big job to add one anyway.

I wonder if it's possible to tie the step power to the proximity entry ( or you now, the dome light like other steps.)... so that the steps remain powered off until the Jeep "wakes up".

thanks onfire392 a 12 inch drop would be good for getting in but would it hard to step down that far getting out

It's not hard getting out, maybe if you have really short legs.

My wife is 5’4 and picked the RSE over the AMP at the dealership. She had used the AMP 3 year’s trouble free. Just liked the RSE “better”. Both get it done in different ways.

The positioning of the steps feels quite natural in everyday use. Sure, it might not be the same as house stairs, but it's not at all awkward.

hello everyone I would like help choosing a power side step that when closed will look close to the factory rock rails thanks for your help
I have the Amp steps and last month I went to Colorado. I made a trip up in the mountains and went across a creek that was flowing high that day and the water went probably 2 inches up my doors. In about a couple of weeks both motors went out and I have been trying to get their warranty guy to send me 2 more and it's been going on a month now. He just can't get it right and keeps asking for the same information about my invoice with pictures and a proof of tests they want you to run before making a decision on sending out replacement parts. I bought them last year and they have a 5-year warranty. So,,,,, would I buy them again? I have had them on other vehicles before and no troubles, but I don't think they like being immersed completely under water. So, I would give this information some thought before I bought Amp's products.

I’ve used AMP. They are a great on road only step. Light, reliable.

Offroad, they will not last.

That is a pretty extreme test of RSE and I would add their new skid plate that was not used in that vid if I intended to use them as a daily rock skid. But it shows how tough the standard unit is build. That hit would fold an AMP like a pretzel.
