One Photo: Earl or Anvil?

It is a cool color for sure, but it is 1000% Anvil.

Do you think this one is more like Earl or Anvil? Watch for a minute before deciding. Much of it seems to do with how the camera phone adjusts to the light.

What fascinates me is how very DIFFERENT one color can look under different lighting. HVY can look anywhere for highlighter yellow, canary with a hint of green, to flat, pastel yellow depending on light. Look at this one.. Looks Gobi in the sun, Sting Grey in the shade, but given that it's a JK, it's neither.

I remember the same back and forth over Anvil vs Rhino... it's one of those things that until seen it in person, the world just may never know.... you know, kind of like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop?

You're absolutely right! Heck, on the close-up zooms, the thing makes it look darn near sting grey! You literally see the color adjust.

I'm thinking we're getting all these weird colors because modern phone cameras don't know how to handle the color balance.

Definitely a wild game!

This is definitely lighter than most Anvils look, but I talked to the man and he says it’s Anvil, and I definitely agree. The only thing that makes me confident, is I have an Earl 392, and it’s never looked like this. Not even close to me.

I love the Earl. I will probably get it, if they don’t get the Anvil with the SOT.

I think Earl gets a bad rep, lol.

I'd like to know specifically why SOT and half doors aren't offered in certain colors. I'm pretty sure the doors are done at a different place and maybe that's why? Are the SOTs also done at a different facility?

I asked one of my contacts at Jeep about this, and he was surprised that you couldn't get Anvil with SOT. I think he was going to check on it, haven't heard back tho... couldn't get an answer on the photos in this thread either

So I was pretty convinced it was Anvil. Now I'm going to say I'm pretty sure it's Earl. The 4xe is 100% Earl. The 392 indoors is a darn near match for the Earl in the shade. I'm also basing it off my '16 JK in Rhino, which is much closer to Anvil than Earl is.

Either way, I love both colors, and until Anvil was announced, I was ready to order Earl. But this is just a fun guessing game!

I ordered Earl. This is Earl, though, right? So Anvil indoors under lights looks just like Earl outdoors not in direct sunlight?

I've heard it described as "seafoam green" in direct sun ... but super hard to tell from photos.

His camera can't decide if it's gray or blue I think it'll look good. I live by the ocean, so a lighter color definitely makes sense. Anvil looks amazing in the sun... but in the shade is super dark. I'm really shocked it can be so different.

I have cactus gray now and am really just trying to avoid the minty green toothpaste look. It works on the Bronco with kind of a vintage Defender look, but wouldn't look good on the Jeep. The blue in the initial Jeep footage though looks great.

Saw my first Earl Rubi in the wild a few moments ago. Got to say, it's an AWESOME color!
