Not sure if this pertained to “performance”, so posting in general discussion. Apologize in advance if I chose poorly.

A week (and a few hundred miles) into Jeep ownership with a 2027 Moab 392, and curious what nominal temps and pressures I should expect in the off road gauges page.

Coming from several dry-sump SBCs in sports cars, I’m used to (and thankful to see) the higher oil pressure (54psi cruising when warm, 30-32psi at warm idle). Coolant is a bit higher than expected (220-224 warm), but I’m just used to 180* tstats.

The one area I’m concerned about is oil temp. Nominal when warm/cruising seems to be 225-240 at 1.5-2K rpm with 65-70* ambient. Other than the track, I never saw more than 210-220 with my LS and LT platforms, but this is 7.5qts wet sump versus my history with 11qts dry sump engines.

Is this normal, or cause for concern?

The 392's temps were set a certain way to meet emissions and other legel parameters. You can change them as some of us have done. Not super easy or leave them and enjoy your ride. No wrong way.

What are the benefits of changing them?
Potential for the extreme heat to give you a power steering dash light and cause PS issues, your electronic pcm is in the engine compartment and higher/longer the oil temps degrade the oil functionality quicker. Some bring the trans, oil and coolant temps down because they tow. I do because we mainly like duning, and keeping the engine at high RPM's climbing the dunes in the summer creates crazy high temps. And if your performance minded, heat is horrible on trying to achieve the best performance like other have with the superchargers and Tom's 4x4 upgrades.
