2023 392 rubicon
I have a 2023 392. Never thought id like a Jeep until I test drove this thing. Soon as it started up it put a grin on my face. When I hammered on the throttle it made me laugh. After a short period of time, It became apparent Jeep made a badass rig in all ways accept the suspension. I couldn't believe for this amount of money and horsepower they didn't upgrade for better suspension. Immediately installed the tazer JL mini, put a 2-1/2" terraflex lift on with Falcon shocks and upgraded to 37" tires. Its the perfect set up. This thing soaks up some pretty big bumps no problem now without bottoming out. I have one big issue to ask if anyone else had the same problem. I heard a rotational grinding sound from front end during a day of wheeling up in the mountains. Before I got home something bad was going on beneath my feet and heard a loud chunk. Found that the coupler connecting front driveline and transfer case failed, was red hot and threw driveline out which was now sitting on the exhaust. Had to remove driveline to get back home. Took to the dealership which blamed the lift putting too much strain on that joint and won't warranty it. This thing has only 19K miles. The suspension shop said their literature from terraflex doesnt say a drive yoke upgrade is needed unless you go to a taller lift. Either way looks like I have to get a new driveline with standard u-joints. Is this a common problem. Super irritating, wasn't a cheap lift.

im with you on the jeep part, ive ran nissans and yotas up to this point, never thought what would have me surrender was the hemi.

far as the front drive line is concerned the front tcase side cv joint is pretty sub par and has a really shallow operational range. regardless of the failure youd def benefit from a custom front DS as it would let you get the most out of your new lift and the flex it can provide, even with the stock arms and AEV lift with the bracekts im at my limit with the front DS and will most likely need a new one soon.

Congrats on the 392 and you picked some great parts to start off!

The shop is correct, at 2.5" you shouldn't need any front driveline change. But, it is common for the technician to unbolt the 4 bolts on the yoke that hold the driveshaft to the axle, so they can get more droop to install the new lift springs. My guys always re-torque and then paint mark the bolt heads to ensure 1. They put things back together, 2. To help identify if something came loose after we touched it.

It's possible the shop you used also removed the front shaft and perhaps didn't tighten everything back the way it was? Can you see any sort of paint lines on those bolts or around the yoke? Not saying this is what happened, but it seems likely considering you only have a 2.5" lift and the Jeep is fairly new, so age/wear might not be a factor.
