Mysterious three-chime notification

Ok, today I drove down that same stretch of road where twice previously I had received the three chimes. Probably at the same place in the road because the chimes went off and at the next intersection was a traffic camera that I didn't realize was there (and I had previously ignored the obvious signs advising of it). So, yeah, these three chimes advise of traffic cameras a block ahead, I'd say.

Except I went past that same intersection two days ago and no chimes went off. So, I guess it isn't perfect.

And btw, the audible “traffic camera ahead” is also heard as it chimes 3 times. Pretty obvious what it is honestly, if its the traffic cam.

Never heard this

Mine does it. Just heard again today.

So, you hear the spoken words "traffic camera ahead" in addition to a set of three chimes? Seems unusual, but nice. Maybe I want that, too! Gee, what version is your Uconnect5? Or maybe I unwittingly have a voice option disabled?

Check your setting I guess.

Well, my single word "Cameras" option is already ON for me to hear the three chimes. If there is a separate option for voice accompaniment, oh joy to navigate to find an option that may not be there. LOL. Mine is a 24 as well.

Are you running Android Auto or CarPlay when this happens or stock navigation? And depending on which of those three, do you have a route plugged in when you hear the voice or does she announce it regardless?

Didn’t think about the chimes when a phone is plugged in, I have found that on some occasions WAZE wakes up and chimes as I approach train tracks and chimes. If your phone is plugged in maybe one of your navigation apps is doing something?

I'm always running wireless CarPlay, but using Apple Maps. The chimes are happening without me having any route plugged in though. I don't have Waze installed. I'm going to do some digging tonight in the stock navigation settings and see if there's something about an audible voice alert that Lost Me Beer is referring to.

You have a 2024 like me and thank you for doing this. I have only been concerned with stock settings and did not even think about a voice accompaniment coming from a phone or other app. Of which I know nothing about anyway.

Since on the 24s the Carplay is wireless, I am not honestly sure if its picking up the voice from it, or the oem nav. Def without a route set in though.
Pretty sure it is the nav since the chime sounds the same as weather ahead voice.

Good to know man, I'll check it out and do some poking around the settings.

@Winston, did you catch that? A weather ahead voice. That's another voice I do not receive. The only time my car speaks to me is when I program a destination via Android Auto with my cell phone turned on and in the car. Then it tells me to turn left or turn right, etc. Is that Google Maps I am using? That's the only program I have used thus far from my cell phone when linked via Android Auto.

Maybe @Lost me beer has a bunch of apps on his cell phone turned on and ready so when he hops in his Jeep these apps are ready to talk to him through Uconnect as the situations come up?

I am about the most untechie person on earth, so I highly doubt that! Or maybe?! Lol
Actually very few apps on phone and didn't add any to the jeep.
Fwiw, my 21 also would say, "weather ahead" or something similar too.

On my way into work this morning I checked the onboard NAV settings, went to alerts and set it from "visual and audible" to "visual, audible and verbal". Now I've never had anything visual on the dash or cluster that I've noticed, so I don't know what visual is referring to. Maybe the map app itself. I'll report back if I end up hearing anything when the chimes occur.

I dunno. I'm starting to think that you are a blessed person. Go buy lottery tickets. :)

Got confirmation today! Enabling the "verbal" portion of the alert through the stock NAV settings provided both the triple chime as well as "red light camera ahead" being verbally spoken. However, I received two of them, one after another in different voices. One through Apple Maps and one through the stock NAV app lol. *shrug*.

Ok, I went out just now and found it, too! Under Settings / Sounds & Alerts, then scrolled down as it was hidden. I turned it on.

Thanks to you for looking and also to @Lost me beer for bringing it up in the first place!

I'm driving across-state tomorrow for my first Rally and will get to see what it does.

Cool.
