Koons delivery (damaged) ongoing...

Hopefully your Jeep will be repaired to meet your expectation. I would at least ask for a Mopar full coverage extended warranty. It's a shame this is effecting your new Jeep buying experience. Some guys say there is nothing like factory paint, others would disagree. Hopefully six months from now this will be behind you and you'll be enjoying your new Jeep. They are so much fun.

This is a lot of insight and quite frankly, I don't know what else to say. I feel conflicted between 'things are gonna be alright' and 'koons is straight up shite,' lol. I am supposed to get it tomorrow but Craig isn't guaranteeing anything. I honestly doubt it will be ready tomorrow. This just blows. I am this close to telling them to give me the car and I'll come back when the parts are here, if they aren't.

Damage to the rear quarter panel is not good like jeepherz said. It's not a replaceable part and I don't know how they're going to fix it. One of the scratches actually has a very small indentation but I still consider that a dent. Not quite sure what to do at this point. I don't know if Koons would take a return since I already signed papers.
Double check your state laws, but even if you sign papers, you can back out of a deal up until the part you drive it off the lot. That’s the case in many states but I’m not a lawyer giving legal advice so should probably look into it yourself.

Walk away! Order a 24' from Lindsey at Dan Cummins

I asked if they are putting it on carfax and they said no. Good. They better not. I don't plan to sell it but I would rather keep the carfax clean.
Just so you know, CarFax gets information from public sources, things like police reports and insurance claims. So the dealer can say anything they want. In your case, pre-delivery touchups wouldn’t turn into a public record so you should be OK. If you sue them over it, may be a different outcome.

Shit happens all the time and for the most part I think we are generally reasonable. The issue becomes when you are beholden to absolute donkeys to help you resolve the issues. I doubt you get too far wit Koons unless you escalate it to their ownership or upper management. If it were me I'd push to get my money back and move on, even if I had to take a small loss.

I'd walk away as well and order from a more reputable discount dealer, it's not like a TRX where orders are closed and won't reopen. You just have to be patient enough wait for the new one to come in.

I wouldn't remotely let having signed papers have any bearing on your decision. Is there not a clause anywhere in their paperwork about final acceptance of the rig? I mean come on. It's clearly damaged. They can't possibly expect that you wouldn't have misgivings. Have they even asked if you still want it or offered an out? Offered concessions? Have they offered a paint warranty? Ie: I was getting 5 year paint protection. Someone else said it- its not that Jeep does an excellent paint job. (Hello orange peel!) But for all you know they're using Joe Bob's Autobody. Its worth asking about.

Any update on this? I've noticed Koons just posted a deal on 392s on this forum. It would be helpful for others to know if you were taken care of.

Just go with Granger or MD, Koons are a bunch of clowns.

I have mine. I was referring to the information being helpful to others- specifically on the thread that Koon's is posting on.
I will say though that another forum has a very long thread with a lot of people happy with Koon's. I did get pricing from them and was overall pleased until we figured out that they don't do California sales.
This does seem to be a bit of an outlier which also made me wonder what happened.

Hey guys, sorry for ghosting on everybody. I had put everything behind me and moved on so much that I had forgotten about this post. It has been a month since I've had I've had my 392 and I am more than pleased with it. Still, I wish that it wasn't damaged at delivery but it is what it is. They had their inhouse body shop do the repairs. I don't think the dealer was responsible. They are a high volume dealership and they are only concerned about moving cars. That's their #1 priority. Their second priority is to squeeze in some typical dealer snakelike nonsense but that's all dealerships.

They were losing money with my order so they tried that with me but it didn't work. If you're looking to purchase from Koons keep these things in mind:

1. If it's a sold order inspect everything... Literally everything.
2. Pay attention to their reception of you and their overall tone. More below
3. Do not take anything personal. They are a business and it's the bottom dollar that matters.

To expand on #2 Some sold orders are sold at a loss once delivery is taken place due to the current market place. Mine was 89k out the door with the Mopar plan. They had one on the lot for 92k with it most likely being over 100k out the door. They lost a ton of money with mine. They are no longer doing the 8k off MSRP; Took too much of a loss with that stunt. Now they do % off. They are supposed to get you to buy the car, not discourage you from buying it in hopes to sell it at market price to someone else. They saw an opportunity and tried their hand. I don't blame them. It's the game and I knew that the minute I walked it. That's what they tried with me but failed. It's a long story...

TL:DR
Yes, I was taken care of with no drama. It took about a week and a half. It looks new and all parts were replaced. Yes, buy from Koons but be careful and don't trust them.

FYI, they lost nothing and in fact made money. Price protection on the sold order doesn't come out of their bottom line and not getting ADM doesn't mean they didn't still make a profit.
