Jeep 392 FAQ: So… You just bought, or are considering a 392.... Are you Nuts?

I'm about 5 weeks/1700 miles into owning my 2026 Moab. I bought it new from Tucson and drove it back to LA. I thought it tracked very well and the steering felt tight. The wife commented on it being nice and tight to drive when she took a turn at the wheel. I also have a 2018 JLUR that the steering was an abomination, which is now lifted on 37s with the later steering box and all Metalcloak steering/lift. It's no surprise that the new 392 drives nicer, since it's lower and the tires are smaller (35s).

I will say, that the reports of high tire pressures from the dealer are true for me. They were 40 psi all around. However, I'll also say that the reports of high tire pressures negatively affecting steering wandering, are inaccurate or overblown, at least that's been my experience with this Jeep with the 35" KO2 tires. YMMV BTW, I still haven't lowered the tire pressure.

Guessing you are referring to the one at your local Audi dealer (quick internet search w/ the mileage made it easy).

Having gone through a similar experience with a used 2025 at a local dealer - also in very good shape, at a fair price - but realized I could order a brand new one, exactly the way I wanted it, with a full warranty, for the same price or less… I ordered a new one.

Drive it. See what you think. Then go talk to your local jeep dealer, and see what they will quote you for a new one. Finally, reach out to any of the dealers on here offering VERY GOOD prices on orders, for the exact same vehicle you’ve talked to the local dealer about. Finally, go back to the local dealer and see if they will come close enough to make it with your while.

I wound up ordering from my local dealer for less than the cost of driving it the 8+ hours from the closest discount dealer I spoke with. Plus I have a relationship with TJ the local dealer if I have any warranty claims.

The ‘27 Willys version will sticker 10K USD cheaper than a MOAB. Depending on your preferences- that might be the best deal yet. That option didn’t exist when I ordered mine in Dec 2025. Then again - I have zero regrets having ordered EXACTLY what I wanted. And would do it again.

Putting a wrap on the used one is an option - since you’ve done that once already. But you’ll have to decide what’s all worth it.

I love my 392. Every time I fire it up, even if I’m going to the grocery to get eggs… I’m off on an adventure in my head. I turn around when I get out as I walk away to admire it. Actually playing with it off road is about the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Get what you want, don’t compromise, and enjoy the hell out of it.
The problem is, in Canada, apparently you can't factory order a 392. At least, I can't configure one on Jeep.ca, though I can configure every non-392 model on the Canadian Jeep website. Checking inventory on 392s via Jeep.ca shows zero discounts, though each dealer may offer some that aren't listed on the main website. Meanwhile, should I build a Rubicon X via the website, the discounts all show up. If I was looking for a custom built Rubicon X (for example), then I'd agree with you.

In Canada, EVERY brand new MOAB 392 or Willys 392 I've searched for is more than $10K over the 2024 Rubicon 392 I'm looking at, and the warranty in-service date for the Rubicon 392 I'm looking at is from October of 2025, which means I'd be saving $10K, having ALL of the bonus features that come with the Rubicon 392 (painted fender flares, winch et al) that aren't included or would be additional $$$ on a brand new MOAB or WILLYS, and a warranty that's only 10 months old.

Most of the lower cost WILLYS 392s in Canada (still north of $100K CAD) have neither the front locker or sway-bar disconnect, which defeats the purpose of spending over $100K in my view.

And pretty much the majority colour on any dealer lots within 500km is black, with two Goldilocks, one Mojito, and a few Anvil available.

I am going to drive the 392 (I've owned 7 or 8 different CJs, YJ, TJs and JKs in my life, all manuals), but my primary question was more about the Tuscadero Pearl, and how "polarizing" that colour may be. I've never seen one that colour in person, which is why I"m asking. I do love Mojito, Reign and Goldilocks, and I've seen all of those in person. Just have never seen how "pink" Tuscadero actually is.

I think a friend said it best last night when he rode in my 392 Moab. He said it's surprisingly refined.

Good news, and news in general.

First off, don’t believe the ‘build and price’ feature on the Jeep webpage, it took them probably 5+ months to get the Moab build possible on the US site. Best source of reality is to check with your local dealer, and see what actually can be ordered. It's amazing what a poor job Jeep does on line with what they sell; the Jeep392 forums and some dealers are a much better source of info.. which is where I wound up when initially interested last November. /Stellantis, please put jeep people in charge of jeep.

Next, there was a special edition announced in Canada for May, that looked pretty attractive , AND is a 392. See https://www.jeep392.com/threads/may-drop-7-of-12-yawn-but-look-what-the-canucks-get-instead.5874/ for details on what was announced. EDIT: Direct linky to Jeep.CA details: https://www.jeep.ca/en/twelvefortwelve . Go about half way down the page, and pick the ROCKY MOUNTAIN LIMITED EDITION tab for specifics. That has the 392, painted fenders, nice interior, front locker and sway bar disconnects (Think all the MOAB features), with the one touch roof (if you like that).

Again, your local dealer can tell you what’s possible by reviewing the order bank with you. Can’t imagine they put in that effort without making it available for more than a very short time. Also, had to remind myself of the difference between CAD and USD, so I do understand the pricing you are referring to up there.

Finally - as for the Tuscadero color -it’s a pretty bright purple/pink shade, depending on how the sun hits it. It is distinct, but not my personal favorite.

Regardless - drive one, and if you find yourself looking hard enough for specifics like this - you ARE in the right place, and you probably need one in your garage. I LOVE mine. Best of luck in your quest!!
