I’m thinking of selling out fear.

I think 37s are the sweet spot for looks and on and off-road performance.

I still tell myself at times that I should have stayed with 37s or 38s but once you wheel 40s, it is hard to go smaller.
I've seen your on 40's , looks great. I really don't need that for what we love to do. That's what make these Jeeps so great , you can build them to use.

Hey. So I’ve had my 392 for about a year. I’ve enjoyed it but have concerns that have me on the verge of selling. I’ve had to bring my jeep in a few times now for alternator issues, electrical issues, and for some other warning lights. I recently learned about the death wobble and that’s got me worried too since I do a lot of adventuring with the wife and kids. Then reading about you gents with the trans leak issues, it’s got me rattled. I got trade in estimates and it’s frighteningly low already. With 5k miles or so I’ve lost $25k in value already.

I’m sitting here trying to see if I can keep the jeep for a year or two longer while under factory warranty and not see anymore depreciation or if it’s going to plummet even more. I know a car is almost always a depreciating thing but I don’t know. Do I get out now or do I have time? Do these concerns have you guys and girls rethinking holding onto it?
No. I am not concerned enough to sell it. I had the so-called death wobble. No big deal. Keep it and enjoy it.

In the car business we always told customers.................. Act in haste repent in leisure. It sounds as if you developed buyers remorse soon after your purchase. The only way you lose big now, is if you sell or trade and take an arse kicking! Sit back, calm down and see what happens next year. If we truly are headed into a depression, nothing you trade for will matter. If I didn't own an early build 2024 I would certainly not buy one. The animosity between the UNIONS and Stellantis would make me cautious of any build or purchase. I have purposely beat the S__T out of mine from day one to make sure it was a good one. If it breaks the sooner the better! No leaks no wander no wobbles. I admit that I am not in the same position as most here on the forum. Keep it unless you want to dig in the hole DEEPER! You will see DEEP discounts on Wranglers next year. Mostly EV's and of course the SLUG Grand Wagoneers..... 392 not so much...............

@rocketman - I would first check with one of the board sponsors @jeepguru with Doetsch Offroad and see which he offers. Their prices seem to be pretty competitive and I believe he offers board members an additional discount. Also several members here seem to be happy with their customer service as well. I've been pleased with both the FOX 2.0 ATS/Falcon Nexus 2.2 EF SSs. The FOX ATS 2.0 has finer (more) adjustment settings than the Falcon Nexus 2.2 EF with its three settings of soft, med, firm. Both are an adjustable pass through design and are superior to traditional SS. IMO it's a must with lifted Jeeps with oversized tires.
Thank you! The issue is, I am very unfamiliar with any of these type of mods. You're basically speaking a foreign language to me. So a lot of the time I am seriously lost. I am going to research going off of what you named. Thank you.

If you have a stock sized tires on a Wrangler 392, you won't have death wobble. No need to upgrade steering components.
If you are running large mud terrain tires, 40"+ you could run into issues due to worn steering components.

But I thought it can occur to stock vehicles? In fact, aren't most of the ones showing it on youtube videos stock? I am dead stock.

If you're not happy with it, then I would shop around and see where you can get the most trade value and make the switch for something that will buy you time and that you can be reasonably happy with. That's what I did.

Thanks. I started shopping, but admit I really do like the 392. What did you move onto?

My stock steering wore out in 4,000 miles on 37s. My SteerSmarts setup is holding strong on 40s.

OP, I would spend the small amount of money and replace the tie, drag and track and you won't have death wobble. Slap whatever SS you want on it after that.

Thanks. I don't mind spending to make this thing bulletproof against the dw. I am just really unfamiliar with these types of mods so what you write, is unfamiliar territory for me. I will try to learn more. Thank you

Thanks. Hearing about all the Stellantis issues, and Jeeps dropping in value, and seeing mine be worth so much less than purchase already.. makes me think if I wait I am going to get drop kicked even harder. Argh. I think I will stay the course and hold on as I enjoy the Jeep a lot. Thank you

Sorry to hear of the issues. I agree, worst time to sell a 392 is 1 year later. As the jeep is under warranty, I would continue and if problems arise, rely on the warranty to solve them. I have not had any death wobby issues however a host of other issues I resolved by replacing many parts because I am off road 100% of the time. Its a great jeep and the real value is holding this for another 1-2 years. suspension changes, etc will help.

Great advise above. Stellantis will be fine under new leadership who is actually focusing on V8's

You should “sell out fear”, because fear should never be a factor of your choices.

I've never experienced death wobble on my 392. That said, at around 8K I did install the Steer Smarts Yeti brace and changed the steering stabilizer to the adjustable falcon because I didn't like the wondering. Fixed! Sorry for the other issues, those seem to be hit-and-miss for folks. I agree with the others, if you don't feel safe trade it in. That's easy for me to say, but given the investment, that's a difficult decision. I hope it all works out for you.

I have 37" tires on my JL Rubi - death wobble is intense.

I had multiple 392s. I parted ways and got into Z06 vehicles, lifted black widow Silverado with 6.2, LX600, and LS500.

Got it...maybe add a Steer Smarts yeti steering brace and Falcon adjustable steering stabilizer? It tightened mine up and feels super solid.
I did a Fox AT 2.0 steering stabilizer, still didn't help.

After doing some research, it could be your ball joints (or track bar /drag link angle / alignment).

I don't have any issues on mine...yet, but I will be upgrading to American Iron ball joint deletes. You'll never have to replace them again.

Good video on what to check. My Jeep shop did the alignment the way he does.

Apologies to the OP, didn't intend to highjack your post.

I had some front end work done to mine about two months ago. There is one section of road that I go over about 3 times a week, that sets of a death wobble every time (now). It's been getting worse and worse. With the colder temps, I let me PSI get as low as 33. I just pumped 'em up to 37 PSI, in hopes it will help reduce the death wobble. I've got 37" recon grapplers. Never used to get death wobble, ever. Not until the dealership worked on the front end after a fender bender.
I'm left wondering if they didn't put it back together right.
