Hood struts

Mine should be delivered before we make it home with our 392. It's my wife's rig and these are a must.
I'm trying to convince my wife to sell her 2020 2dr. Rubicon and I'll give her my 392. I want a Gladiator with a hemi swap.
She said no way, ain't happening, not going to sell my Jeep. I said " Ok dear."

Installed Redline struts this afternoon. Love them. Will add my voice to the chorus. . . should come from the factory this way.

Did you have to grind the battery guard? That’s something I don’t want to do but I love this mod

Well, The bracket holding the ECU.

I put mine on as soon as I brought it home.
My god they are nice.

Yes, as @Martysjeep said you have no choice but to slot/grind the ECU bracket. It's easy and I don't think compromises anything with the bracket. I put a couple coats of black high heat engine paint on the grind to protect it. It's worth it, the struts are great!

Installed this morning along with an oil separator and rugged ridge locking hood latches (These will hopefully frustrate a would-be thief getting at my remotely operated starter relay from Mobilistics).
Took a couple attempts at the ECU bracket to trim enough clearance for the passenger side strut. Confirmed by taking a video while closing, snapshot attached, but easy to feel when trying to close the hood.

Otherwise, pretty easy installation.

You will love them, it takes a little time to get the mounting plates slid into the opening of the hood. I did NOT cut back the rubber seal that runs on the side of the hood. They say you have to modify the battery hold down bracket so the strut does not hit it. I believe they tell you to cut a notch in it but I did NOT do that either mine barley touched the battery hold down bracket so I used a small adjustable wrench and bent the bracket down a little and you can`t even tell it was done
Just curious, which way did you bend the bracket? I think I'm going to try this as well, instead of cutting. Any pic of the bracket after you bent it? Thanks!

Hi, sorry for the delay. I will post one within 60 minutes
I did not even check how close it is when it’s closed but there aren’t any marks on it showing that there is contact

Just installed them. I bent it with a small spanner wrench, like you mentioned. Worked great! Here’s a couple pics, I bent it forward.

I didn't have to bend or cut anything when i installed mine.

Honestly, I think Jeep should have made the Redline Hood Lift standard on the 392, for a few reasons: 1) It’s a $78K vehicle for heavens sake -- surely they could have done better than a $10 prop rod; 2) the hood weighs 26 freakin pounds with the attached water/air diverter; not a big deal unless you have to lift the hood above your head (assuming you’re not a 7’ tall NBA player) with one hand while you wrestle with unlatching and positioning the prop rod with the other hand...and if you’ve been driving for a while, both hood and prop rod are approaching 150 degrees. Yeh, nobody needs the Redline Hood Lift; but once you do the install, you wonder how you lived without it.
CBH Didn’t you replace the bolt on the driver side.? With a button head stainless steel bolt? What was the length and the thread type metric standard? I cannot find that picture that I thought I saw you post. Thanks in advance, earl 392.
