Borla exhaust for a 392

They are definitely made for mall crawlers not rock crawlers

I asked AI to compare popular exhausts and do a matrix. I wonder how these results actually are compared to real life?

Here is another question- what about drone on the trail for these systems? Our last outing the drone is almost unbearable on trail in open mode with stock exhaust. The low speed and rpm’s holding in the 1600-2200 range is a recipe for tons of drone so we end up running closed/quiet mode pretty much the whole time.

No drone on my 22’ with the Atak and I’ve taken it on many trail drives. I do know many have reported increased drone in the 24’ + models with the factory system. There’s a few threads on the forum.

Deeper tone and killing drone are priorities for me. I've had Borla systems on multiple vehicles in the past and enjoyed them. I'm closer to a Mall Crawler...like a fire road kind of guy. Definitely haven't done the rocks like my gutsy forum heroes. All you young Thundercats are the stuff!

Considering AWE and Borla. Someday I'll hear them in person. My mod list is now on hold...need new roof and need it now.
Estimates are all in the "14-15 AWE systems" range . As a fixed income, "rapidly closing in on 70" retiree I guess I'll have some more time to find examples to listen to.

My stock '22 had no drone at all (late '22 build that came off the truck with some '23's). My '24 has the deceleration drone others described. It is very mild, only in Performance setting. It sounds like the helicopter cadence pressure on the ears sensation some vehicles have with just drivers window down. Not too bad on my rig but it's a great excuse to justify to the wife the $ for upgrade.

Hi,
I have that terrible drone that many 2024 owners are complaining about.

I have tried both the Borla and AWE systems. Although both are excellent products, if your 392 exhibits this very loud drone, neither the Borla or AWE systems will make it any better.

I have complained to Jeep about this. My dealer assessed the drone (very loud and deep bass drone - 83 decibels at 45 Hz - which is blistering anyone's eardrums). The dealer also agreed there is something definitely wrong and this drone should Not be present. The dealer documented in my work order that the drone is "loud and intolerable" after only a 5 min test drive with me in the vehicle. The shop foreman even reported that the drone gave him a headache after 5 min in the vehicle and this is definitely a problem.

I have spend a lot of time communicating with customer service at Jeep Cares. They tell me that they have explained the problem to the engineers at Jeep. They claim the engineers at Jeep have "engineered" that specific drone to be there, and there is no fault with the vehicle.

If you can believe it, I am being told by Jeep that our 392s have been specifically engineered to exhibit that same horrible drone that the dealer has officially documented as "loud and intolerable". The same drone that 100% of people who ride in my Jeep also cannot tolerate.

Jeep/FCA needs to do something about this problem for the affected vehicle, instead of ignoring it.

The drone alone ruins the Jeep experience, it's that bad.

I am wondering if it is a combination of drone and the noise cancelling system playing bass through the stereo. I am about to spend some funds replacing the stereo just so I can totally bypass the noise cancelling system to see if it helps. I don’t even run performance mode due to the noise.

Did either system make ANY difference?

Neither exhaust system, Borla or AWE made a difference in the drone.
I even pulled the fuse on the stereo to ensure the noise cancelling/ subwoofer was not a factor, and with the fuse pulled, the same drone persists.

It appears not all 392s have this problem, but the ones that do, it’s a terrible problem.

I suggest you direct message Jeep Cares on this forum as they take care of USA customers, and MIGHT help you. They will not assist me because I am in Canada. Sadly, despite my repeated efforts to have Jeep Customer Service in Canada do something about this, they have refused to assist me. This is even with Dealership Shop Foreman issuing a work order that my drone is “loud and intolerable”. Jeep Canada just does not care, and want us to go away.

Everyone with an affected vehicle with this drone needs to contact Jeep Cares on this forum. At least they might hear you out.
