Only 1 battery
I just got this message “Aux Switches Are Temporarily Unavailabie” last weekend, I have a tazer and have my PIN assigned to those switches which could really put you in a shitty situation if you are in the middle of nowhere. Going to replace the stock battery even though its testing fine, my 392 sits for weeks/months at a time. Is this message generally related to a bad battery?

I don't think it is necessarily a bad battery, just that it is low on charge. That is the vehicle keeping you from activating some high draw accessories until it is able to charge the battery back up.

so that aux-switches messages starting show up on my bride's 392 the last month or so. For clarity, that's an indication the battery is (only) reason for that and is needs to be replaced?

Cranking has been weaker too, now that I think about it. Hrmmmm.

In other news my 392 has been in the shop for an entire month... for a battery/PDC issue they are still tracking down. A MONTH!

The replaced the battery and it died while on the lot one day. Prior to this they did a draw test (supposedly), and prior to THAT, they'd already gone through everything, grounded one circuit differently, and said it should be good to go.

The more they work on it, the longer each visit becomes. Never seen anything like it, smh.

I am just going to replace the battery as there have been too many post with the stock battery crapping out in less than a year. Optima and Odyssey are crap and have had too many of both that don't last and have horrible customer service.

Got the jeep back today. it was a relay or fuse in the PDC...the ones underneath the fuse rack. They are non-replaceable, so they had to install a new PDC.

It wasn't the new battery they installed that had died, but rather, all of it's power was being 100% drawn by the failed relay in the PDC, so the starter never got the juice.

Saw a pretty steady 13.7 volts on the dash gage on the way home... wish it was higher with a new battery but maybe that's normal for the 392.

Annnnnnd... didn't drive the jeep for a day and the brand new battery is dead. Can't believe after 5.5 weeks they couldn't find the root cause that drained the first battery and/or fried the relay in the PDC.
It's like a western medicine horror story where they are only smart enough to treat symptoms instead of find and fix root causes.
I'm about done with my Jeep. I adore, admire, and LOVE this machine. But their approach to service is horrible, reactive, and burdens the customer to no end. It's a top down /leadership issue that is systemic.

Well that sucks. Even it was a crappy Jeep battery, a one day lifespan shows you definitely have a major short or drain somewhere in the system. Get a friend who’s an electrical engineer and maybe he can diagnose.

The dealership service is crap nowadays! I can't believe the simple issue's that customers can't seem to get resolved without a train wreck after the dealerships work on vehicles there supposed to know. Hell they can't even change oil without screwing stuff up.. Scratching paint, leaving underbody front air dams off of Challengers and Chargers and list goes on and on.

I hope Jeep is reading all this stuff .

Yeah, I would only go to the dealer if I couldn't do it myself or for a catastrophic failure. I've only had one good dealer experience in the last 30 years. Not good odds.
