aFe Headers

Is it just me or are those some ugly welds?
That’s really nasty, should have been tig welded and if not at least buy a grinder

True they look crappy but once installed no one can really tell. I have not one issue yet and with the tune my 392 is super smooth.

After installing and driving Jeep a while, would you suggest aftermarket headers?
What improvements did you gain other than lower temp?

Honestly, I did it just to lower the temperature and to have better flow. I can't really tell if the jeep gets any more torque or HP from the headers, but I did notice the difference when I tuned with my HP Tunner.

I’m curious as to what tuner you are using and who’s tune?
Does it also include a trans tune?
I’m really looking forward to your response on the tuner, I had my Raptor tuned by a Gear Heads tune and then tweaked on a dyno, huge gains thanks to the turbos
i had to copy the OEM tune and sent it to them and they built my tune based off of that, it also had tunes for different octane fuel

They just did an episode on Engine Masters comparing headers.
The 3 were ceramic coated, painted and wrapped. Here is a link, they are also on YouTube
the ceramic won overall, interesting enough they had a temp sensor inside the header and one on the outside.

What tune did you put in your 392?
Livernois was the one I am thinking about getting. That’s why I’m so interested in what you went with? it was so much easier tuning my Raptor, the twin turbo’s really up the hp. With a naturally aspirated motor you usually can’t squeeze that much out of them

If you’re willing to spend the money and have a local performance shop that uses HP Tuners interface go that route. You are better off in the long run if you plan on doing headers/exhaust/larger tires/etc. The trans tune alone is something that our 392 platform needs badly but anyone installing headers I strongly recommend get it tuned.

You just gave me another reason to visit Tennessee! Whats money when you own a Jeep? I really want to do something with the tune in my 392, I know it has the potential, it`s just a pain in the ass getting someone to help around here, when I had my Raptor tunned I couldnt stop the emails from places that did trans and performance tunes. The only luck I had was when I bought my 2018 JLUR Rubicon, I went to the Jeep Invasion that they have here in Wildwood NJ ant there is over 2500 Jeeps on the beach and another 400-600 in parking lots and that`s how I met Adam from RIPP Performance and went with a supercharger, I installed it myself and then went to their shop in Long Island and they did a dyno tune and what a difference in hp and trans response, it was unreal to be able to smoke 35`s and still get 20 mpg on the highway.
I need to find your guy or somebody like him close by, but it doesn't appear that anyone around here even gives a hoot about any type of tune because it`s not worth risking your warranty. The warranty doesn`t stop me from any mods, it is what it is and if you look at all of the Jeeps out there that are brand new off the hauler and have different suspension from mild coilovers to wild, no money held back spared Dana 60`s and more. I don`t think they are worried about a budget and do not care about any warranty issues

Our 392s have been tuned to the max by the design engineers, there's not a lot left on the table.

Without forced induction, you'll spend a lot of money to get a few percentage points of gain.

With forced induction, you'll need to replace the engine internals... then you're off to the races.

I have read about the piston issues along with other things that need to be changed, My brother is telling me instead of going that route to call Petty`s garage and see what the cost would be to swap in a 392 out of a wrecked Charger or challenger

You don't want the 392 out of either of those cars really as it is pretty close to the same as what's in the Jeep already. Go get yourself the 6.2 motor out of a crashed hellcat

There is also the 426 option. I believe it’s a stroker kit.

I was poking around the Petty Garage, drop it off leave your wallet and that`s it!

Sorry for the delay.

My tune was supplied by Vivid Racing. I am being tweaking the tune a little bit until I was 100% happy with it.

Those welds don’t look like their pics online…
Since someone brought up an thread... Those pictures look like they are probably CAD renderings to me. Cycling through them on my phone they look identical except one picture doesn't have welds on it and the connections to the collector look like they are smooth.

I installed the aFe Header with ceramic coating and I can see a difference in the temperature by the inner fenders. The power is minimum but after driving the Jeep for a while I noticed a little difference on the sound.View attachment 7640View attachment 7641View attachment 7642
Thanks for posting the pictures....Im planning on installing the same headers. Any advice on the installation? Have you had any header LEAKS? Thanks again
