392 engine’s Serpentine Belt came off and started Overheating.

My alternator pulley came apart on my 21. When it came apart we heard a weird noise and the battery light came on. I had just replaced the battery 100 miles or so before. Then the red dash and temp gauge went through the roof. I immediately pulled over and had it towed to the dealer.
The dealer said the alternator pulley came apart and shredded the belt. The shredded belt whipping around took out the lower coolant hose, the oil cooler hose, and tore up the hood liner.

Anyone else had this happen?
Same thing happened to me last year with the alternator and pulley, but I was lucky enough not to lose the belt in the process. Alternator was toast and it sat at the dealer for over a month because it was on backorder... had to get Jeep involved... it was a mess.... hope you have better luck than I! 🍻

same thing happened to me this week. Alternator pulley shredded so did other pulleys and tensioners. Dealer replaced all pulleys, belt and alternator.

Battery was just replaced ~400 miles previously…

Battery light came on, smelled burnt rubber/plastic - pulled over and smoke coming from the belt.
