2021 392 vs 2022 392 XR

You can absolutely swap them out with Fox shocks, but I wouldn’t use the same Fox shocks they put on a regular 392. If you’re unsure what to get, stop by a reputable 4x4 shop in your area. That’s what I’ll end up doing because I’m no expert when it comes to shocks.
Your saying a local shop is smarter than Jeep? I must be missing something.

Body roll is not as bad as I thought it would be. I was going around a 2 lane interstate on ramp and had to get on it a bit to get ahead of the truck in the other lane and Ms. Sarge did fine. My wife didn't freak out either, so body roll must've been acceptable.

My wife has what I call EWADS (Early Warning And Detection System). In the event of danger (real or imagined), her hands go up and start waving back and forth. Minor danger will result in both arms just flinching and hands rising a couple inches from her legs. More serious threats (like coming in a little too hot on the car in front of me) result in both hands up and little bit of waving back and forth.

The most extreme example of EWADS was one time we were going down the interstate and the hands went up and she started screaming. I saw no threat. Normally I am the cause of EWADS from driving too fast or tailgating to keep cars from getting over in front of me. I had no idea how to react. So when I asked what was going on, she said that a car was coming over and about to hit us. I couldn't see the car at all because it was very low riding and I was in the JK with 4.5 lift on 37's. Nothing happened and I never even saw the car.

I give her a hard time about it, but it was hilarious. The kids and I still laugh about it. She does not find it as amusing, but that's OK :).

My daughter has EWADS2 which incorporates audio alerts for even imagined danger like the time she pointed ahead and yelled "DEEDEEDEEDEED" when she saw a traffic cone on the side of the road that she thought was in the road. She calls me "DEED" sometime because Siri did one time and it stuck.
Had to print this for future reference, in order to upgrade my wife's drawing of a huge deep breath....:)

I specifically said I would NOT use the same Fox shocks that come standard on a regular 392. I’m sure there are Fox shocks that will work fine with an XR. Never understood why people have to be such smart asses.

Agreed. And FWIW the 392 doesn't have true Fox shocks. Check the label. Its a Jeep branded "Fox" shock.

Rode in a non XR and own an XR... for what its worth on-road the XR rode better/more confident. Non-XR was floatier. Dampening seemed slightly better sorted out in the XR. Not sure why people get so worked up about seeing "Fox" on their shocks....

I just want aluminum bodied... :(
One step further Yukon.......I want unobtainium bodied shocks to go with the flux capacitor that's under the hood of this beast.....after finally getting my 392 I've realized this is a time traveler!! Something this wicked and fun does not belong in 2022! How lucky are we to be among the few who jumped on purchasing these great machines:cool::cool:

I agree, no idea why there is a shock discussion. They will last 15K at most. Either ones. Which one’s are better are absolutely personal preference. I like SS bodies because I have had a lot of rusty Ranchos. Hate that now. Only comment I have about the XR shocks is that when I am replacing mine, I wouldn’t buy a mopar branded shock. Truly we are talking about $300-500 of cost of an $80k Jeep For either. If you are buying the XR for the shocks, you are confused.

Sorry but that's just totally incorrect. The 392 has "true" (whatever that means) Fox shocks. They ARE in fact manufactured by Fox (Fox part number 984-02-261) as a vender part (it's not retail like the MOPAR 2" lift kit) for Stellantis and then labeled under MOPAR supply part number 68481297AB for OEM factory install on the 392.
