I haven't seen too many of these posted here. As an anchor point for others, I'll list mine to compare against. I have performed all oil changes myself with the same equipment below since day 1.

Does anyone have thoughts on the note regarding copper and our young engines?

Oil used: Pennzoil Ultra 0W/40
Filter user: 04892339AB
Interval: 5,293 miles
Truck Mileage: 8,422
Fuel used: Shell Premium

This is the first vehicle that I've taken oil samples on so I don't have anything other than yours to compare the copper levels too. I forgot to take an oil sample on my first oil change at 5,200 miles, so this report is my second oil change at 10,800 miles. I was adding about 3 quarts of oil between changes using Pennzoil UP 0W40 so I switched to Valvoline European 0W40 for my most recent oil change and so far (1,000 miles) it hasn't needed any additional oil.

This is from my next oil change at 16,800 miles still with Pennzoil.

Thanks for the post. Results look healthy for a new engine.

Yeah, I'm not very happy about it but apparently Jeep thinks that up to 1qt per 1k miles is acceptable. I'm really hoping that it improves at some point or totally fails under warranty. I've never had a vehicle use this much oil.
That's mind boggling. Hope it gets better for you.

That is insane.

Ours were similarly high on copper, came down on the latest check:

It looks like our 'young engines' go through puberty around 10k miles and by 12-15k I suppose one could say from an oil standpoint the engine is fully broken in.

Knowing what I know now based on peer data analysis it would seem that if you're looking to min/maxing your health and performance it may be beneficial to run 3k oil intervals until 12-15k miles.

For some of the members who regularly change at 3k it would be great to have oil analysis samples to see if the short intervals still provide value or if we can extend to 4-5k without losing much.

at 4500 mile interval, my last report shows TBN at 3.0, indicating active additives still available. Anything below 1.0 is considered low. I'm going to push out to 5k and sample again. I'm thinking that might be the sweet spot.

Seems like a lot of oil to add did my first oil change at 1900 miles just dropped maybe 1/8th of an inch or less . Doesn’t burn any oil now 7500 miles dipstick doesn’t change between oil changes every 3000 mi. Thanks guys for posting stats. Can I ask what it cost for the testing. Thanks

I don’t understand why people spend thousands on their new Jeep and cheap it out on oil changes, on an annual basis what could it be an extra $150.🤷🏻‍♂. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Who is cheap most reply with oil changes much sooner than required 1300 1900 3000 we are in dusty conditions while going on Jeep runs with 15 to 23 Jeeps. Change out all filters often oil too. cheap insurance. If you’re running the freeway low dust you can probably push oil changes out. Jut my 2 cents

Oil and filters are cheap, my time is not.

Your warranty requires an oil change every 6 months regardless of mileage. I have changed mine with just 600 miles on the oil. Looked like new. Silly but required.
