I need to replace a broken front passenger window. What is my best option?

Someone broke in my front passenger window while watching the F1 Practice. Actually, I saw five cars with broke windows, and yes, it was an official parking lot.

What do you guys recommend? I was thinking of changing it myself, but I haven't found any videos/instructions.
Then I have Safelife or the dealer. What do you guys recommend?

Ouch. That sucks. Don’t you wish you could just castrate the D-bags that go around doing that shit?

If you have a good service dept at your dealer, I’d think your good going either route. I’d suspect Safelite might have a quicker turnaround and they’re definitely reputable.

If you’re able to get the glass, it’s definitely doable as a DIY. Helped my dad change one in an Oldsmobile when I was a lad. It‘ll basically sit in a “u” tray, it’s just removing all of the trim and panel to access everything. Plus, it’s a 2-person job just because a. It’s glass and b. it’s awkward to feed it in. Might not be worth the hassle, especially if insurance covers it.

That sucks for sure. Did you leave something of value on the seat or was it just a random attack? Curious also as to how you found the new track and getting around it. Do they let you walk around to different parts or keep you in your section? Best of luck with the window.

They didn't find anything, and it was a random attack.
Regarding the F1, I was at The Fountains. I could go to the other sections, but it was so hot that I wasn't encouraged to explore the entire area. And I did attend only Saturday, but it was a fantastic experience.

Thank you! Yes, I was pissed when I arrived at the scene, and tomorrow I'll check for the available options. So far, I have removed the door panel and cleaned the inside door.

Thanks for the report. It seems a shame that I didn’t go to a GP race that’s only an hour and half away, but I wanted to see if they could work out the initial bugs the first year, apparently there weren’t any other than the heat although that’s to be expected.

Updated: she is fixed now.

I used https://www.cityautoglass.com to replace it with an OEM glass. It was $460.00, cheaper than the dealer and much more expensive if I did it myself. The OEM glass I found on the internet for 120, but none is available, and not all the companies do delivery.

Next time I'll do it myself.

Glad to hear that your window was successfully repaired! This incident, smash and grabs at all types of stores, etc. certainly do not evidence good cultural mores and values. Let's hope for a change for the better soon.

The bright side of your jeeps damage was just a broken window. Paint damage is always days to weeks in a body shop. I have 40 years experience in glass and auto glass. I really approve of the OEM Mopar glass choice!
