Bigrant’s 392 Build

Now that I graduated from the waiting rooms with an order date of 11/7, I took delivery of my Anvil 392 with SOT on 1/27. Not a bad wait and in reality a couple months sooner than I was expecting. Starting this thread to track my pretty simple build, mostly with accessories and some custom parts since I like to mess around with making stuff. Let the fun begin. I’ll post pics of the installs as I go.

Ok. First mod done. Custom Front mud flaps. I know can be slightly controversial but wanted to do it to protect side from rocks until I add the RSE steps. Had a set of universal flaps I bought years ago for my 2017 Rubicon. Anyway measured and cut them. Took 10 minutes to install. Drove Jeep home with them and they are doing well. I like that they are minimalistic.

You did great on the mud flaps LOL I had to go back and look again cause I was like ok he did Rock Blox like me...... OK custom made flaps... LOOK GREAT!!! I love mine in front and back (and it keeps the jeep cleaner).

Thank you. It’s amazing what you can do with a pair of sheers and a dremel. I liked the rock blox look but needed something fast so I used them as inspiration . They absolutely helped with driving in the rain.

Looks great. I’d move that kill switch way up the list. My friends was stolen two months after he got it.

267 miles - Dropped off for Suntek Ultra PPF and paint correction with Ceramic.

Just picked it up from ceramic and ppf. Used Signature Detailing in Hillsborough NJ for those of you in the Jersey area. It came out great. Did the grill, fenders, windshield frame, leading edge of hood and door sills. Also had ceramic coat done to whole Jeep. Couple imperfections in paint remained but that is more on the Jeep paint process.

Next install will be RSE steps this weekend.

300 Miles - Ok. Been a week and made some progress. Not without breaking a couple things and cursing a bit.

RSE steps installed. Since most of you are familiar with the basic install I’ll give you what’s different for 2024 and what I broke.

- You don’t need to remove painted pinch seam bolts. The new slider design can go over them. Of course I removed them but no big deal.
- Do the job in warm weather. I was on my driveway. The reason I say do it warm not only is for your comfort. But plastic cracks in the cold. When trying to remove to door sill wire covers they wouldn’t budge. I used trim removal tools. And cracked the corner of trim on passenger side. Lots of curses came out. Already ordered new plastic. $46 and I will install in spring!!!
- On off button mounts in recommended location. But you need to remove wire clip next to OBD bolt.
- Last nightmare was the passenger pinch seam holes were not aligned. Had to dremel out the 2 rear holes to get slider to slide in. Of course the Dremel bit slid out and scratched paint on pinch seam. Thankfully it is covered by slider. Also no anvil touch up paint available for months. Wtf!
- Installed lights. May need to shift them a little so they hit the steps better.

So here is my twist on the install. I didn’t like the location of door sensors so I hid them under door sill covers. Took a little trial and error and stronger magnets. But it works. And you can’t see the sensors. Which I like.

Total install time about 8 hours with breaks and chatting with neighbors. I’ll permanently install magnets and then eventually paint them once touch up paint becomes available.

450 Miles - Also this afternoon I installed fender gap trim, Mopar wheel locks and Mopar door sill guards.

It is insane the amount of rocks and dirt that get trapped in there. Bought the solid rubber Trim Lok cord .25” on Amazon since it holds it shape a little better than the hollow tube kind. Or so I think. Easy install. Think it looks pretty good!

I know I'm late to the conversation, but I will always recommend/push for ppf for entire vehicle. I chose to not go with stealth on the 392, as I really like the granite crystal. That being said - if you do not go with stealth, there is no reason to do the top and really the tailgate. Grill, hood, front quarters, doors, windshield surround, and rear quarters. Xpel ppf is truly awesome imho! Just my .02 though.

Adjusted exhaust. So like everyone the right side hangs down a bit. I think the fact that there is only one tow hook doesn’t help. It throws off your perception. I used a 15mm socket and loosened clamps behind muffler. Pushed up and rotated a little on the passenger side. Then tightened. The distance from frame rails are very similar. So the lack of tow hook is playing tricks visually. Here is before and after.

More than likely BFG KO2. Mostly because they run small and I am not lifting this Jeep. I have run KO2s on my last Jeep and while I am sure there are better options I like them. I am just waiting for a good price and I’ll pull trigger.

460 miles - Productive day today. Installed J&L Catch Can. Super easy install. Took about 5 minutes.

Then installed Lasfit Hood Lock. Not horrible but biggest pain was fishing the hoses through engine bay and firewall. Like Casper routed the hoses along top of grill. Looks much better. There is no where to mount the control unit or emergency switch. I have an idea but for now wrapped it in foam and have it under the steering column. Good news is everything works as it should.
