This was compiled from the Facebook owners group. I copied it to this forum to help clear up the differences between the XR and non-XR.

“What are the differences between the non-XR and the XR option?”

Well to save Scott Blum some time Joey Michael helped put together a list that I am going to make as a featured post for future reference.

Heres the list of Extreme Recon 392 versus the base 392.

35” Tires
Wider Wheels
4:56 Gears
Shocks/springs(same height)
Sway bar links
Tailgate reinforcement
Spare tire relocation kit
Spare tire carrier
E-Assist Brake Vacuum Booster
Tail lamp extensions
Fender extensions
Jack Spacer
110 mph speed limiter versus 99
Bump stops
Steering box
Steering pump calibration
Blind spot/backup sensor calibrations are different

Of the above list, what is really desirable to me on the XR:

1-

I am going to break protocol, since this has been posted before(thanks tho for reaffirming for those you need it!)

To save Scott Blum some time. Here is what a real 392xr SHOULD have or whatever package comes back:

37” tires
17x8.5 beadlock capable wheels
4.56 gears
2.5” lift from stock rubi
fox 2.5 dsc shocks
gas charged bump stops
adjustable control arms
double cardan front Driveshaft
99 speed limit since that is all 37s are rated to go…
10k warn winch

that is my list.

I suspect they will be coming out with a new and improved XR package at some point for the 392 (Or whatever winds up being the top of the line Rubicon) to match or exceed the Bronco Raptor.

I also believe this, but not with a 392. I think it will be with the new 3.0l inline 6.

I will add to my list, because I learned this from full size truck wars.

Make the engine easier not harder to maintain! Oil changes shouldn’t be messy and oil filters should be able to reached and come off without pouring oil everywhere.

Yeah, the v8 is dead. I think they may offer the base 392 through '23 and then will switch over to the i6. There will be some i6 variant that will probably exceed the 392 performance spec wise as there is clearly a market for it.

If the JLU doesn't change much aesthetically, I think the 392 will retain its value kind of like how the v6 Caymans/Boxsters are more desirable than the 4 cycl versions. Who knows though.... Jeep could surprise us all and exceed expectations given the new competition on the block.

I wish Jeep would offer the ability to order any color (think Audi select or similiar to what Ferrari and Lamborghini do) in their catalog for a certain up-charge and if you are willing to wait. If they offered a 392xr in gecko; I would pay extra for the paint color. Their paint and options packages are soo archaic IMO. No half hard doors if you order Tuscadero.... WTF is that about?.....

Steering pump calibration? does anyone know more than that?
