What is everyone’s thoughts on a winch? I’m looking at the warn zeon platinum 12s vs 10s.. the 10 has an additional 20 feet of cable but is also 2k less pulling power.. anyone have any experience with these?

I was hoping I could run an Warn 8274 8000lb winch but appears maybe it is too small?

I installed a Warn EVO 12s

My thoughts on a winch, that’s a must... even if ur not going to use it. They look awesome 😎. In my opinion... you have a Rubi-392 correct? Do not get anything cheap for it. Spend the money and always get the best. You already have a rare Jeep, always install stuff others can only dream of having 😏 and keep our 392 rare and equiped with only the best of the best.

I have been stuck 3 times, no winch and all 3 took several hours to get it out. 2 of them sleepless nights. Already have the 12s platinum while the 392 is months away. Got a deal and thought it was going to be a long wait. Warn said they were a year behind. Got it in a few weeks. 10s is plenty but it was only 85 more for the 12s and its 2 pounds lighter for some reason. Not really a factor. Like the wireless remote but some complain on battery bleed. Testing the one I have and I can see the bleed but it's been over a month and half drained. I may do the battery bypass surgery.

Further comments on installing a winch... I like vacationing in Southern Colorado and driving the high mountain, old mining roads/trails. I see a winch as a safety device that you hope you never need but it's much better to be prepared. Thanks for sharing your experience CPT Papa! BTW, it also makes a Jeep look like it should.....

The 10s is more than enough, but if the 12s is only a few more dollars, then I guess go with that one. The rule of thumb is a winch that can pull double the weight of your vehicle is more than enough.

Ok went with the 12s and also ordered the factory 55 ultra hook and the new warn cover.. I now need to figure out something to do with the front license plate because I do not want to cover all of that bling up.. lol. Any recommendations?

Does the Warn 10 EVO fit into the factory bumper slot without modification?

I’d think so. I went with the zeon platinum as someone on another forum told me it fit on the stock bumper.. I’ll let you know in a week.. lol

Yes, but you do need a winch plate kit from Maximus-3.com for the factory bumper (about $350). I installed a Warn 12s EVO (same size as the 10 EVO) in the factory bumper with this Maximus-3 kit. See picture in my previous post on this subject. The stinger bar was also from Maximus-3. It does not interfere much with the trail cam.

Will you be using a Warn winch plate kit or the Mopar one?

Will the plate warn sells work on the stock bumper?

From what I've read it does. However, the installation is a little clunkier (bolt/bracket placements and such) than with the Mopar plate.

Toss the plate, keep the bling

I'm currently installing a Warn Zeon 12 S Platinum with the Warn winch base plate, one thing I can say it's a very tight fit to the point I'm going to trim the bumper mount plate, I don't like how close the winch is to the bumper mount it actually is rubbing on it, has anyone else experienced this? Using all Warn products?
