I've never had a rattle on my '23 with the AEV bumper and tire carrier and it is holding 38" Baja Boss spare.
Do you have the fuel tank? I think that's what is causing it. I spoke with AEV and made some adjustments that will hopefully make a difference.

I do have the 10.2 gal AEV tank. Gotta say that my '23 AEV is a lot better put together and rattle free than my '24 392. Hope the adjustments work for you. I don't know if the difference was mine was an AEV build.

These AEV builds are so damn beautiful. I’m planning a trip to Fairbanks, AK next year from Seattle and I plan to do the AEV rear bumper, tire carrier and fuel caddy. Plus, I’ll do the trail rax pak rax system for more fuel. Great looking rig. I’ll add an AEV stubby front bumper at some point.

Question for you all on 38s, are you still running the factory front CVs if you are on the factory axle or did you upgrade to RCVs?

I'm finalizing my build for 38 Nitto Trail Grapplers with RockKrawler springs etc and trying to figure out if the factory CVs are strong enough or not.

This is a 95% daily driver but I do go rock crawling with a club and a few members around 8x a year and enjoy the challenging trails.

Thanks!

ps: I'm ofcourse installing other supporting mods ie ball joints, tir rod, drag link and c9nsidering artecs axle truss etc etc

Nitto 38 12.5 ridge grappler, 3.5in lift from Teraflex, 4.56 gears, didn't change out the dana 44s. I also got 17in Fuel Rebel 5s but I don't remember the offset. It was the least aggressive option.
Great looking set up, those wheels look good on the 392. How much do the wheels/tires poke out past fenders? Any rubbing issues with your offset on full lock or flexing on obstacles?

It is all factory right now but I will be replacing the tie rod and drag link with teraflex kit this spring. I had some problems last summer with the power steering overheating so I will probably upgrade it all at once.

Thank you! There is almost no poke past the outer trim on the fenders which was my intent. I haven't had a chance to flex it out yet but no scrubbing at full lock. I did alot of research and the general consensus was that a 3.5in lift was plenty for 38s. Some people even reported good experiences with 38s on a stock XR.

I wouldn't consider upgrading to RCV's until/unless you ever have a problem with the OEM shafts; the factory axles are plenty strong enough for the vast majority of people... mine have survived multiple Moab trips, other ORV parks, etc. With RCV's you may have stronger shafts, but everything else is still OEM strength; knuckles, dif, housing, etc etc...

Also in looking at your list and depending on how hard you want to run her, if you're going to the point of trussing and building to hit the rocks, you might consider the investment in 1 tons; IMO. Multiple posts on here on the cost comparable vs the gain (strength and peace of mind).

Cheers 🍻

I'm keeping the factory power steering for now and if I encounter overheating or lack if power to turn the 38s when aired down offroad I'll look to add the PSC Adventure kit.

Agree on your points, particularly with the RCVs passing the weakest link to the other components.

My offroading is fun technical trails as opposed to super hard core ones. If you look up Crawl Daddy at Rausch Creek that's about as hard as I go. I also don't hit the skinny pedal with a "hold my beer" mentality when offroad.

So my thought process was to keep the factory axles and beef them up a bit for piece of mind.
