Ok, I know I am going to catch flack on this one but wifey is complaining about how difficult it is to get into the new 392 (vs our old 2018 JL Rubicon). I tried to explain the larger tiers, Xtream package and 392 lift makes the door sill about 4 inches higher. Plus our old JL Rubi had factory Sahara running boards I installed on for her and a interior grab handle. That explanation held no water and her response was "Fix it" and do it on both sides so I will be able to drive it.

Doing some looking there are lots on the market but unfortunately all require the factory Rubi/392 rock rails must be removed (which I am not happy about) and putting on electric steps requires them to be removed for any "REAL" off roading and re-installing the factory rails. It would have been nice if a company had made a set that could easily be removed as needed with the original rail still in place.

So with all of that said who makes the best made, dependable and most like the factory rails look. thx for the suggestions!

Rock Slide Engineering. Buy once, cry once. 🤣

Also, it’s worth adding their doors off kit so you can activate the steps with the doors removed, as well as the LED lighting kit.

And, add their Armor kit as well, and you will have not only electric steps that work great, but also solid rock sliders too.

No need to be swapping sliders/steps back and forth!

From what I've heard (I'm from flat land country), Rock Slide Engineering can hold up to "real" offroading if you add the skid plate to them. That is what I put on our 392 and my wife comments every time she gets in about how much she is glad we have them. I know they held up good when my first 392 was side swiped by a sleeping kid, other than the actual step being distroyed when it deployed because the door gap opened up when it was creased. I put them on our new 392 even though the insurance company only gave me $100 for them when I sent them the receipts that I paid $3300 for them 2 months before the accident.

I second this. I just had to swap to these from my Genright sliders for accessibility reasons. If you want electric steps this is the way to go. Contact @jeepguru he can hook you up,

I can also vouch for the RSE's particularly when coupled with the Step Slider Skid Plate. They are very functional and they've proven to be incredibly robust to me. 🍻

I also recommend Rockslide Engineering Step Sliders. I use them on my 392, as well as on my JLR and JT Mojave. With the optional skid plate the total steel thickness is 3/8" thick. If you bend 3/8" thick steel on a rock, you are doing something wrong. I just took some pictures of them after install on my JLR. The pictures are better than any I have on my 392, so here you go. You can at least see what they are like. I also have the Rockslide Engineering body armor on my Jeeps, which could be added to the Step Sliders if you want.

Thanks all, Rock Slide Engineering it is, they look like they would take a beating much better then AMP Research Power step XL.

I especially like the fact the step mechanism is fully enclosed and can't be ripped off by a rock. Gonna purchase the step slider skid plate and the lighting kit at the same time as I hate doing things twice. And the looks mimic the factory 392 Rubi Rails, fantastic!

Cheers to all that posted pictures and offered their input, it really helped in making the right choice!

Rock Slide Engineering are the best. My 2024 392 was stolen about three months ago. I hade the RSE rock sliders w/ armor installed on that Jeep. Never a problem.
I recently got a new 2025 392 replacement Jeep and one of the first thing I did was add the RSE steps.
At the moment Doetch Off road is installing them along with the Apex steering upgrade.
BTW, Todd at Doetch in Chandler AZ, is great to work with. The price is right and the customer service has been outstanding.

Thank you for the kind words @damado!!

We still have the group buy going on for the RSE steps!!

Ok folks, the fix is in. Ordered a set of RSE's and extra's from Todd at Doetsch. And got a forum discount to Boot! It's a win-win.

Thanks to all that steered me in the right direction, and took the time to post pictures and share their experiences, I almost made a mistake considering the AMP XL's. Without a doubt the AMP's are not in the same league as the RSE's.

Kudos to all!

Rock slide engineering hands down. My wife and I both love them. Tough pill to swallow at first but glad I did.

I just ordered the RSE’s as well from a local shop: Wanderlust Overland. They seem to have a solid reputation for doing quality work, and they’re just a short distance away. I like it when I can support local businesses.

I have a lifted 2018 2dr JK and a 2024 392FE… I have AMP Research Power Steps on both. I really like their look and function. I go off road quite often, however I don’t like bouncing around on rocks.. That’s what my RZR is for.

Got the RSE steps installed today. Wife and I are both very happy. No sensors, just a toggle button on each side operates them.

Are you guys still having a sale on RSE sliders and skids. This is for a 2023 392 thanks

The RSE steps are fantastic, quiet, smooth, work well and look great. Get the optional armored covers if you going to be doing any rock crawling.

The ones they sell now are the next generation and do not have parasitic draw like the originals.
And having owned them for a while they beat the hell out of the factory rock sliders and I would buy them again in a second, expensive but built well.

Toggle button? Interesting, does that mean they don't have any parasitic draw in the normally closed position?
